It's Christmas time in Weatherford, Texas and at the last
minute Phyllis Newsom is asked to feature her home as one in
the annual Christmas Jingle Bell Tour of Homes. Phyllis is
excited but she's also in the middle of planning her dear
friend Eve's wedding scheduled to take place on New Year's
Eve. But not one to ever say no, Phyllis agrees and with the
help of her friends, as well as Sam, the man in her life,
she makes sure her home is up to the holiday standards.
But just as the tour is about to start, the head of the tour
committee, and a friend of Phyllis', Georgia Hallerbee is
found bleeding and unconscious on Phyllis' front porch.
She's been hit over the head with one of the gingerbread man
decorations, and her chances of survival doesn't look good..
Since Georgia isn't able to tell them who knocked her out,
Phyllis sets out to discover the truth on her own and soon
finds that trouble is about to be baked up once again.
Lavia J. Washburn treats her readers to another delicious
mystery with her latest book in her Fresh-Baked mystery
series, THE GINGERBREAD BUMP-OFF. It is always a delight to
visit the charming town of Weatherford, and Washburn's cast
of characters are lively and personable -- just the kind of
folks you'd want to have as your next-door neighbors and
friends. The Christmas-theme for this story is a lot of fun,
and the mystery, as always, is intriguing and exciting. This
is the sixth book in the Fresh-Baked Mystery series, but new
readers can easily pick up on the action!
