Paranormal Romance

In this exciting book we pick up not long after Late Eclipses left off. A short span of time has passed since we last left this world. Toby seems to understand understand her duty and has relaxed in her role as Countess but much happens to turn her world into chaos once again. As Toby begins to go on dates and find normalcy within her life, she is thrusted into a search for missing children and trying to prove her innocence. In the short time frame that she is allowed Toby finds herself traveling all over the worlds in her search for the boys. Add in the danger and the one who is willing to do anything to stop her and you have a one exciting story.

I have really started to enjoy the October Daye series, including the latest installment, ONE SALT SEA. Toby has indeed grown but still needs to continue doing so. I love that she is now starting to feel comfortable enough to start dating and take control of her life. I also like that she can now begin to be the countess that she is meant to be. Sean McGuire does a good job of intertwining all the interactions between the characters in this book. I also enjoy the way that the men in Toby's life like her for who she is and let her be just that. Not only does Toby come to life but many of the secondary characters make a big impression as well. We are introduced to another world in this book and new characters as well as visits with some from the past. As Toby rushes to find the kidnapped children we see how she has developed and grown. Toby must not only deal with people's feelings and reactions but she must also deal with the politics associated with being a countess. There are twists and unexpected happenings in ONE SALT SEA that kept me quickly turning the pages all the way to the end.

So much goes on in this book that I would advise starting the series from the beginning so that you can understand the characters and what is going on. Overall, this is not a story that can be picked up midstream. If you follow the series, you will not be disappointed with the newest continuation. I really like the way McGuire mixes magic and myth into his addictive story lines. ONE SALT SEA was an enjoyable read and I cannot wait till the next book comes out.

SUMMARY

October "Toby" Daye is settling into her new role as Countess of Goldengreen. She's actually dating again, and she's taken on Quentin as her squire. So, of course, it's time for things to take a turn for the worse.

Someone has kidnapped the sons of the regent of the Undersea Duchy of Saltmist. To prevent a war between land and sea, Toby must find the missing boys and prove the Queen of the Mists was not behind their abduction. Toby's search will take her from the streets of San Francisco to the lands beneath the waves, and her deadline is firm: she must find the boys in three days' time, or all of the Mists will pay the price. But someone is determined to stop her-and whoever it is isn't playing by Oberon's Laws...
