This is the third book in the amazing series, 13 to Life.
Unlike the others, this book is told from the multiple
points of view of the main characters, making it easier to
connect with some characters and understand them better.
Jessie is still stuck at Pecan Place, aptly named as it is
the home of psychiatric patients. She finally gets out
later on, but the reader has to endure seeing her in that
place and hating it. Pietr still has an undeniable love
for Jessie. Pietr is everything a reader could want:
protective, foreign, handsome, and brave. Pietr and Jessie
come even closer to each other in this novel.
The Rusakovas (Pietr's family) have been trying to extract
their mother from people who do her harm...to no avail.
However, this novel holds news about the mother. The reader
will love getting to know each and
every member of the Rusakova family and some of the
secondary characters, particularly Amy, are fun to get to
know as well.
The events of this book are fast-paced, the ending is not
entirely an ending (another book coming!), and this book
cannot be highly recommended enough to teens/young adults.
Locked away at Pecan Place, Jessie finds her situation to be
even more dangerous than she feared. While she struggles to
maintain her sanity and discover answers about the group
that seems less and less like any legitimate government
agency, Pietr fights to keep their relationship alive. But
very aware that his mother’s time is running out, Pietr
makes a deal he doesn’t dare tell Jessie about. Because the
deal Pietr’s made could mean the death of far more than his
tenuous relationship with the girl he loves.
