Olivia Paras, otherwise known as Ollie to her friends,
hasn't been the White House executive chef for long -just
long enough to get in more trouble than a chef should. In
her second amateur sleuthing attempt, Ollie finds herself
creating a memorable Thanksgiving dinner and a judging
gingerbread men cookie contest all while trying to discover
why terrorists are threatening the First Lady. Gavin, the
Special Agent-in-Charge, would love for Ollie to mind her
own business but there's no stopping a chef this
headstrong. Soon it becomes clear Ollie might be their best
bet at catching the bad guys, partly with her newly
acquired electrical knowledge and party as bad guy bait.
A fun, cozy mystery with likeable characters and an unique
setting in The White House. There are eleven recipes at the
end, nine are appetizers plus two desserts. If you've read
State of the Onion, Ollie's first adventure, you'll
definitely want to read this too. Or you can become a fan,
starting with this one.
White House executive chef Ollie Paras has to put her own
interests on the back burner when a kindly electrician is
electrocuted to death, and the First Lady’s nephew dies in
an apparent suicide less than 24 hours after cleaning
shrimp with Ollie. Ollie suspects something fishy is going
on. She’ll have to watch her back—and find a killer
unlikely to be pardoned.
