Marko Taruskin, the leader of the London St. James werewolf
pack, feels smothered at one of London's crowded balls he
has decided to attend, when he spots and woman sitting in a
chair. Marko's heart stops and he suddenly falls in love. He
must meet this mystery woman who has affected him so, and
hopes to be in her bed by the end of the night. Marko makes
his introductions to Severin, the mystery woman, and they
become partners on the dance floor. Soon their dance is one
of seduction and they leave the ball together to continue
the night with more pleasurable pursuits. They go to her
home where they share a passionate night together. Marko has
never felt this way with another woman and longs to make
Severin his own. But then there is a murder that links the
crime to his pack. His romance with Severin will be put on
hold until he can find the murderer before he strikes
again.
Severin longs for Marko like no other man that
has come before him. But when he leaves the next day without
any promises of a future between them, she is confused and
hurt. Before she can think more on this, her sister, Jehane,
a courtesan, asks for her because she is afraid for her
life. The poor woman that was found murdered was a friend of
Jehane and now she is afraid that she may be
next.
WANTON is a tense murder mystery where anyone
could be the killer. There are a multitude of characters who
add to the story, mainly that of Marko's pack family who
have many deadly secrets between them. The plot tends to
branch out in many different directions that may confuse
some readers, but when everything comes together, there is
quite an explosion where friends and family will be pitted
against one another.
Even though WANTON is considered
to be a paranormal romance, that side of the story very
subtle. Instead, Noelle Mack brings the tension and mystery
front and center. Severin is a strong willed and caring
woman with a sister who lies and keeps things to herself.
And whereas Marko and Severin have a mature and respectful
relationship, Jehane has one with a man who is very deranged
and will send some shivers down the reader's
spine.
For a taunt historical story with bite, Noelle
Mack's WANTON should appeal to her fans and those who are in
the mood for something a little different.
Kyril.
Marko. Semyon. Brothers like no other, sharing an ancient
blood bond
and descent from Russian wolves. Sworn to lead the Pack of
St. James
and defend the English crown, their seductive charm is
legendary among
the women of London. But no one knows of the supernatural
powers that
raise them far above the ranks of mortal men. In WANTON, the
second
book of her compelling trilogy, Noelle Mack presents Marko’s
story...
A Dangerous Pleasure
In
the year 1816, the Pack of St. James meets in secret in
their London
lair. An unknown assailant has begun to prey upon the women
who consort
with the men of the Pack—two have already died in mysterious
ways and a
poisoned communication threatens still more. With Kyril
Taruskin and
his love Vivienne away in the far north, attending to the clan’s
business in the Russian port of Archangel, his brother Marko
begins to
investigate—and finds the trail leads to a scandalous beauty
known only
as Severin.
One
of the victims was Severin’s half-sister, but that alone is
not enough
to explain her intimate knowledge of the strange case. Well
aware how a
clever woman can hide more than she reveals, Marko employs
all his
powers of sensual persuasion, barely able to resist the
allure of her
amber eyes and softly seductive voice. He has never been
outwitted by a
woman. But Severin is different from all the rest—very
different—and
loving her is a dangerous game indeed...
