Romance Contemporary | Romance Suspense

At an emergency meeting with her wedding planner, Katie Ray is worried she's getting cold feet, but before she can express her concerns, the doorbell rings. Peeking into the hallway, Katie watches in horror as her wedding planner is shot in cold blood. Carl Hades is a private investigator following up on a disturbing phone call from a potential client with a tip about two missing brides. By the time he arrives, his client is dead. A moment later, the killer has locked him in an unheated storage room with a sexy redhead. Things heat up between Katie and Carl while they're trapped overnight, and Katie shares deeper conversations in the dark with this stranger that she does with her fiancé.

After barely escaping from an intentionally set fire, Carl is determined to find the wedding planner's killer. His police officer brother is investigating the missing brides, but after another suspicious incident, both men are concerned that Katie Ray may be the next target of a bridal serial killer. Katie was already stressed about her wedding, now her worries are split between her inappropriate attraction to the handsome P.I. and her fear of the serial killer, who's trying to make her the next victim. Carl wants to protect her, but Katie feels unfaithful to her fiancé. She feels closer and safer with Carl than with anyone else, but she's also never been in more danger.

For a book advertised on the spine as a contemporary romance, the serial killer's thoughts appear with surprising frequency. This fast-paced mystery plot will engage readers of suspense with entertaining relationship- focused romance readers. Christie Craig creates believable characters with compelling stories -- Katie's parents and brother were killed in an accident, and she feels lonely and alone with a family of her own, while Carl has plenty of family around but wants no commitment after his previous lover cost him his job on the police force. Humor and sensuality break up the tension nicely and help keep the story moving. Ms. Craig delivers a well-paced and well-plotted mystery that will keep you guessing to the last page without compromising the happily-ever-after romantic ending.

SUMMARY

Till Deaths Do You Part...

Katie Ray was about to marry a man she didn't love--and who didn't love her. Even losing her $8,000 engagement ring wasn't enough of a sign to call things off. What did it take? Being locked in the closet with a sexy PI, and being witness to murder.

Or They Bring You Together

Carl Hades hardly wanted to be shackled with another man's soon-to-be wife, especially when the gorgeous redhead stirred emotions he'd avoided for years. He'd been hired by an elite Houston wedding planner to investigate some missing brides. When those brides turned up dead, Carl saw where the whole situation was headed: just like Katie's wedding ring and ceremony, right down the toilet. Because, while Katie was suddenly and delightfully available, he had a feeling she was next in line to die. And before he could ask her to say "I do," he had to know who would say "I did it."
