Romance Suspense | Suspense

The victim lies bleeding in the street as the ambulance comes screeching to a stop. As the paramedic begins CPR, she notices a bloodstained envelope clutched in the victim's hand. He forces her to take it and in a voice wrought with pain, says, "Give...to Mitch Edwards...swear."

Paramedic Kirke Palmer knows she's breaking the rules as she pushes the envelope into her jacket pocket promising she'll find Mitch Edwards and not go to the police. That's when Kirke knows she's emotionally committed to doing everything she can to make good on her promise.

Seven years in prison at Leavenworth for a crime he did not commit has bred desperation into Jake Kelly. The Army turned their back on him when someone found a half million dollars in an off-shore bank account in his name, but he did not open. The government needed someone to blame, so Jake was convicted of stealing both the money and a bundle of uncut diamonds totaling five million dollars.

Now Jake is on supervised parole, forbidden to leave the state of Illinois. But he'll take any chance possible to clear his name, even risking violation of his parole. An unknown phone caller, who claims to have information on "what went down" in South America seven years earlier, has brought Jake to an Atlanta tavern. It's in front of this tavern that he witnesses the "accident." It provides him with a license number, a face he'll never forget and the paramedic he saw take an envelope -- an envelope he must get his hands on.

Kirke soon realizes how much danger she's in by having the envelope in her possession. Her home has been searched and she's been thrown into a street to die. She and Jake meet and are running for their lives. Kirke is in a situation more serious than she ever thought possible. Jake is obsessed with clearing his name and, at the same time, protecting this strong, courageous woman he's falling in love with.

CATCH A SHADOW is the latest spellbinding, cannot-put-down, roller-coaster ride, suspense thriller by Patricia Potter. It's chockfull of mystery, intrigue and nonstop action. The intricately detailed plot is fascinatingly played out with characters a bit flawed, very human, strong and committed. This fantastic thriller is compelling, chilling and another winner for Ms. Potter. You don't want to miss this one.
