Women's Fiction Historical

Kate Goodfellow is a fiery redhead with a passion for life and photography. Ever since she can remember, Kate has longed for adventures and "adventuring" of any sort, always seeking to broaden her horizons and live life to the fullest. Now she's on perhaps the ultimate adventure, a bombing run that leaves her floating about helplessly with others in a lifeboat during World War II. With little hope of survival, she finds herself reminiscing about her life and loves leading up to now.

Living a childhood filled with discovery, adventure and no real boundaries, Kate has no preconceived notions as to a woman's place in the world and goes for her dreams with liberating gusto. No dream is out of reach, no goal too vast, as she goes through the roaring 20s into the depression, not caring that it's supposed to be a man's world. Kate loves with as much gusto as she lives, never looking back with regret on either her first marriage to her first love, or her second marriage to best selling author Hopper Delaney. In fact, most of the men whose lives she's touched worship her in one form or another. Her fearlessness and tenacity give her photos depth and vision that rival those of any of the established male photographers, and she realizes that no matter what the outcome of her latest adventure, she can truly say she's "a woman of the world."

Once in a while, a book comes along that defines an era and captures the reader's heart, mind and soul. A romance in the truest sense of the word, Ms. Henderson uses words the way her heroine uses film, lighting and setting. Capturing the world of the 20s, 30s, and 40s, it's a beautiful, poignant story showcasing a vivacious and free woman. Kate is like the Scarlett O'Hara of the 20th century, who knows how to make happen what she wants to happen. This free spirit, and her story, is simply inspirational and this book could very well become a classic in years to come. Highly recommended for those who understand romance is not just about love between people, but love of words and adventure, as well.
