Romance Paranormal | Romance Suspense

Dr. Elise Hanover is tucked away in Montana working diligently on a cure for the werewolf virus when an old flame shows up and turns her libido upside down. They step out of the research center to check on her wolves, and the entire place is blown to bits, including the werewolves in the basement. Or so she hopes, because deep down in the darkest cells of the center is one werewolf that scares the hell out of her. With nowhere else to go, Elise heads for the very people she knows can protect her -- Edward Mandenauer, the famous Jager-Sucher, and his trusty crew of werewolf hunters, Jessie, Will, Leigh and Damien.

FBI agent Nic Franklin has finally found Elise, the only woman he ever loved, hiding in a walled-up compound in Montana. After a near-miss with death, the pair flee, and Nic finds himself involved in a bizarre hunt for werewolves. Being an FBI agent, he sees a lot of strange things in his line of work, but this beats all. Together with Elise's comrades, he helps to hunt down the "witchie wolves," a new and very powerful group of werewolves bent on ruling the world. But Nic's own world grinds to a frightening halt when Elise reveals her deepest, darkest, most painful secret and faces a truth that could kill any love they ever shared.

This third book in the ongoing story of Edward Mandenauer and his team of werewolf hunters ties together nicely all the loose ends and reveals secrets held for years about the werewolves. The end is a surprising, yet satisfying, conclusion to this series. However, I do wonder if Elise is strong enough to bear the weight of the werewolves on her shoulders and keep the world a safe place. My hat's off to Ms. Handeland for another terrific story in this series. I really enjoyed it and do recommend it.

SUMMARY

Dr. Elise Hanover quite literally lives for her job—since quitting would mean meeting a silver bullet with her name on it. She works alone, struggling to unlock the mysteries of an affliction that should only exist in nightmares. But Elise knows from personal experience just how real it is. Because the first time its deadly power pulsed through her veins was the last time she saw the love of her life. Until now...

The surprise visit from FBI agent Nic Franklin is merely the first in a series of shocks. After her lab is firebombed and her most bloodthirsty test subject escapes, Elise and Nic have no choice but to join forces. Unfortunately, the situation in remote Fairhaven, Wisconsin is far from safe: Nic has too many questions about Elise's work and why she deserted him years ago; townsfolk are disappearing, and Elise feels her own condition intensifying in ways as terrifying and exhilarating as her rekindled attraction to Nic. Now, as a shadowy evil closes in, it’s becoming all too clear that Elise is the only one who can stop it—if it doesn't stop her first...
