Re: Hot Zone (7:52pm December 1, 2011):

Hi Cthy, sorry I'm late to the party. Don't count me in for the contest...I
picked up my copy of Hot Zone today. I can't wait to get into it. Just
wanted to show you some love, my friend. Will check schedule to see
where you'll be next. Love you.

Peace and love,
Paula R.

Hey Carly, how are you today? I just wanted to stop in and show some love. Don't count me in for the contest okay. I will see you in the jungle and have fun blogging here today.

Re: Table Manners (8:24pm September 6, 2009):

I have been reading all weekend. I also got to visit with Jessica Andersen at a Borders in CT. It was a lot of fun. I finished reading book three, Skykeepers, of her Keepers of the Final Prophecy series. It was phenomenal. I have more reading in store, finishing The Bleeding Dusk by Colleen Gleason, starting a couple of Blazes and reading the summer reading we teachers have to get done before orientation begins on Tuesday. So, as you can see Sandi, I will be doing lots of reading.

Have a wonderful Labour Day everyone!

Peace and love,
Paula R.

Re: The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society (12:27pm July 5, 2009):

Kimberley, I didn't really like Hornest's Nest or Southern Cross by Cornwell either...I absolutely love her Scarpetta series though...I must say that there are few books in my library that I buy because of hype...I firmly believe in the "don't believe the hype" mantra from the late 80s, so I buy a book based on whether it grabs me or not...the same goes for music and movies...I don't focus on other people's opinion and base everything I read, see and listen to off my own opinion...as we all know, everyone won't like the same things, and what a dull world it would be if this was the case...

Anyway, back to the topic...the one book I bought because the cover interested me was Water for Elephants...it is the first and only book I started and never finished...sad to say, it did nothing for me...

Sandi love the Black Dagger Brotherhood and Wrath is my man...Dark Lover all the way...

Peace and love,
Paula R.

Re: Undead And Unwelcome (7:34pm June 14, 2009):

Great blog Sandi, I was fortunate last year to meet a lot of my favorite authors...Robyn is a real sweetheart...I saw Nora, several times, but the line to see her was longer than the one we needed to wait on to get into the signing. I am going to try and get her autograph this summer. It is funny that this is your blog today, because I made my list of authors I would like to meet a couple of days ago...the list is too long to include in this post...I am sure that once I get to the signing, the list will just keep growing...but I have my must sees again...the plotmonkeys, Gena Showalter, Robyn Carr....oh J.R. Ward is definitely on the top of my list after the ones I listed...

Peace and love,

Hey Carly, I am still waiting for this one to get to me...love the excerpt and can't wait to revisit some of the old characters...

Re: The Promise (11:22am April 19, 2009):

Hey Sandi, I read for a variety of reasons, but mostly to learn about new and different things...I read for enjoyment, as a means of escape, a means of distraction, and just to learn more about relationships with people. I know that is kind of wierd, but I don't get into relationships, not friendships, easily. I am too fearful, because I don't know what is going to happen. So, I read romance novels mostly to get a sense of how people act when they meet new people for the first time. I love Victorian lit, Rochester and Jane: my absolute favorite romantic characters...yeah, I know, not your typically romance, but I read it as such. I also read them to learn more about the time period; I am so in love with that era and the Middle Ages. I first starting reading at my mother's knee...she was reading romance novels, Mills & Boones, and I fell in love with the "fairy tale" locations and just the love stories. Betty Neels and Anne Mather were two of my fav authors then. A day doesn't really go by without me reading a couple or more pages in the three or four books I am reading at any given moment. It just doesn't feel like the day has ended when I don't read for fun. I have to be in a really depressive state to not read on any given day. No matter how busy I am, I always make time to read...as someone else stated...it is almost like asking "why do I breathe?" I hope that everyone has a wonderful day today...Have a happy reading day...

Peace and love,
Paula R.

Re: The Accidental Human (11:05am April 12, 2009):

Hi Sandi, this is a great topic. I find a lot of authors do wonder about this particular subject. Personally, the cover plays some role in my decision to purchase a book, but I don't really "judge" the book by its cover. I am more apt to buy the book based on the author and any previous work I read by that person. I must say, though, that I have discovered some new authors because the cover of their books drew my attention. The title has to pull me though, regardless of the cover; if it does, it doesn't matter what kind of cover the book has. I don't usually think of the cover any more, so I never catch the discrepancy between the character description and what is actually on the cover. I must admit that when I was much, much, much younger, the covers used to capture my attention. Old historicals, especially, but that was when Fabio was the hero archetype (I hope I used that word correctly). Have a Happy Easter and I will see you at Jack's.

Peace and love,

Re: Shadow of Turning (7:13am December 28, 2008):

Hey Sandi, how are you doing? This is a great blog topic. I discovered a couple of new authors this year. One of them being Karin Tabke. A friend of mine gave one of her books entitled, Have Yourself a Naughty Little Santa. It filled with hot sexual scenes, but the the plot was a wonderful one. The story was a great love story. It was very realistic.

I don't really have a reading goal, pages or number of books per year. I just love to read. It is very difficult to choose one book that was my favorite this year. I read too many great ones...you named two of my favs...Susan Wiggs and Robyn Carr. See you at the bar...

Peace and love,
Paula R.
