SOMEONE LIKE YOU is a sweet delight! At five years old,
Aiden Gallagher and Laurel Stone have their picture taken
kissing on the Kissing Bridge in Darling, Vermont. So
adorable. They are the Town's Poster Children. The
portrait is displayed in Town Hall to promote Darling
tourism, along with the local legend,
"A Kiss on Kissing Bridge results in everlasting love."
Tourism is big business there. It is close to golf
courses, lakes, and skiing. a quiet, idyllic town with
neighbors who gossip, know everyone's business but help each
other too.
Time has moved on and a lot of water has passed under that
bridge. Aiden Gallagher, handsome, sexy, single is now one
of Darling's finest and he lives with his brother, neat
freak, Rory. He enjoys being a cop but wishes he could feel
he was really helping society. He had a crush on Lauren in
High School. Shy, his friends make a bet he could not get
to first base with Lauren. Lauren also has feelings for
Aiden but when she finds out about the wager, she pours a
vanilla milkshake over his head in the cafeteria.
Embarrassed in front of his classmates, Aiden walks our and
they never speak again.
Laurel has just returned to Darling with a broken heart.
She marries Dan right after she graduates college and moves
away. They work together in an accounting firm. As time
passes, Laurel wants to begin a family but Dan has other
things on his mind. A revelation shocks Laurel when she
discovers he is having an affair with his co-worker, Ryan.
Dan asks Laurel for a divorce, admits he is gay and wants to
be with Ryan Returning home to Darling, Laurel opens THE
Ladybug Garden Center and is trying to put her life
together. A break-in and robbery forces Lauren to call the
police. Enter Aiden Gallagher. A long overdue reunion
between Aiden and Lauren brings back old feelings, strong
chemistry, and long held hostilities. A new relationship
blossoms. The Chamber of Commerce ask them to pose for a
new, up-to-date picture of them together again kissing on
Kissing Bridge, You will love this scenario. I did.
Donna Alward writes a delicious second chance romance. Her
characters are fun with interesting sub-plots. The wedding
on Kissing Bridge for Dan and Ryan is bittersweet and forces
Lauren to begin her new life. Aiden is a sterling hero.
Patient, romantic, perhaps, he does not always use the
right words, but is loving, thoughtful and perfect for
Laurel. The forever after ending holds a future book or two
for brothers Rory and Ethan. I will be on board for both.
This one is great!
A kiss to last a lifetime
Aiden Gallagher was only five years old when he appeared in
a photograph on the Kissing Bridge. The town of Darling,
Vermont, has used Aiden’s image on the famed bridge—local
legend has it that a kiss there results in everlasting
love—as part of its tourism campaign. Now, twenty years
later, Aiden is asked to recreate the moment with the woman
he once kissed: Laurel Stone.
Recently divorced, there’s nothing Laurel wants less than to
pretend happily-ever-after with Aiden. As teenagers, their
romance was no fairy tale—and Laurel has never quite
forgiven Aiden for breaking her heart. But now that she is
back in her hometown, and keeps bumping into police officer
Aiden, Laurel can’t deny that there’s still a strong flicker
between her and her old flame. Could it be that the Kissing
Bridge is working its magic on Laurel and Aiden—and that all
true love ever needed was a second chance?
