Romance Historical

STORMSWEPT is the first book in the Swept series by Sabrina Jeffries written as Deborah Martin. This is the story of forbidden love between a highborn English Lady and a radical Welshman who despite the difficulties fell in love and elope.

Rhys Vaughan is a Welsh radical and the son of a disgraced squire and Juliana is a young English lady and the daughter of the man who stole Rhys's family estate. Juliana and Rhys have an instant attraction, fall in love and elope. However, on their wedding night, her brother finds them and has Rhys impressed in navy and lies to Juliana and manipulates her to keep her marriage secret. The poor Juliana and Rhys are forced to spend the next six years apart, each believing that the worst.

Now Rhys returns after six years of vengeance on his mind and he blames Juliana for what was done to him. Rhys's anger and his determination to believe the worst of Juliana makes it difficult for her to him her love.

Juliana has believed that Rhys is dead and finally she agrees to marry someone else but Rhys shows up in her engagement party and refuses an annulment, instead forcing Julianna to return to him.

There was also a secondary romance featuring Julianna's maid and Rhys's friend. Their love story was also quite wonderful and makes the plot more interesting.

STORMSWEPT is a revised version of the previously published book by Sabrina Jeffries she had written as Deborah Martin. This is the story of deceptions, betrayal, anger and passion. The characters as absolutely amazing! I loved Juliana although I was annoyed with Rhys at times due to his stubbornness on not wanting to see through Juliana's perspective. Still I loved this book and couldn't put it down. Thank you Sabrina Jeffries for writing another amazing book!

SUMMARY

New York Times bestseller Sabrina Jeffries reignites a daring love affair in this intriguing tale of desire and deception—originally written as Deborah Martin and newly revised for today’s audience.

The first wedding night that Lady Juliana St. Albans spent with the dark and daring Rhys Vaughan was intoxicating, the heady culmination of her new husband’s driving hunger and her own awakened sensuality. When he mysteriously disappeared the next morning, she waited for him in hope and desperation. And when he was finally proclaimed dead in a shipwreck, she bitterly mourned the loss of her love.

The second wedding night that Juliana spent with Rhys Vaughan was six years later, after he returned to claim her just as she was about to wed another. This Rhys was different—bolder, harder, and convinced that she’d betrayed him. Only their blazing passion remains from their years apart. But is it enough to light their way through the maze of mystery, menace, and mistrust—to the love they once shared and would have to find again?

Can't say that I'm all that impressed with this review. The
selling point was that I like Sabrina Jefferies.
