NOT QUITE FOREVER

Romance | Romance Contemporary

NOT QUITE FOREVER, Catherine Bybee's latest offering in her NOT QUITE series, is "quite" wonderful. The author's apparent love of writing seems to channel through her heroine, Dakota Laurens. Dakota is a romance novelist and when we see her delight in research and observation of other people, I think we are seeing the delight of Catherine Bybee as well. This is what makes this story so realistic and such a page turner.

Dakota is a free spirit who writes extremely popular books. She is financially secure, travels all over on book tours and conventions, and pretty much does what she wants. The dilemma is that Dakota, a woman who writes romances, has no romance in her life.

Enter Dr. Walt Eddy, a traveling humanitarian physician who is always on the move and has no time for a personal life. Or does he?

Finish out the mix with an array of friends, two sets of parents who vehemently disapprove of Dakota and Walt being together, and all sorts of other complications. Bybee's knowledge of writing and publishing is shown in a fascinating and entertaining way as we follow Dakota around her life. Dakota's witty and acerbic remarks are what make NOT QUITE FOREVER a delight to read. I hope Catherine Bybee is "not quite" finished writing this series. I look forward to more.

SUMMARY

The touching and heartwarming fourth novel in the wildly popular Not Quite series from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee. Romance author Dakota Laurens believes that happily-ever-afters exist only between the covers of her sexy novels. But to her surprise, she finds a real-life hero when she meets a handsome emergency room doctor. The outspoken author feels an instant and intense attraction to Dr. Walt Eddy, and the feeling is mutual. When the globetrotting doctor pulls a disappearing act on Dakota, she’s prepared to write him off…until fate brings a blindsiding twist to her story. Still scarred from a past tragedy, Walt may have disappeared on Dakota, but now he’s determined to win her back. For the first time in years, he knows he’s ready for a new chance at love. Yet between Dakota’s doubts and two sets of meddling parents, can the once-blissful couple finally create the bright, loving future they desperately want?
