"Great chemistry between heroine and her sexy vampire guardian!"

Fresh Fiction Review

Romance Paranormal | Paranormal Historical

ONE BITE PER NIGHT is Book two in Brooklyn Ann's Scandals With Bite series. This is a paranormal historical romance series about vampires. ONE BITE PER NIGHT puts an interesting twist to the standard guardian trope. In this story, the guardian is the Lord Vampire of Cornwall. One thing I really like about ONE BITE PER NIGHT is the pace that the romance between Vincent and Lydia develops at. This is a great book for fans who don't like it when the hero and heroine become sexually intimate two seconds after meeting. There is sizzle and there are plenty of sexy scenes in ONE BITE PER NIGHT, but Vincent and Lydia spend time getting to know and like each other before that. I loved that Vincent admires Lydia for who she is, and doesn't look down on her for enjoying unladylike pursuits. She feels free to be herself around him. The chemistry between the two is great and doesn't feel forced. I like how caring Vincent is when it comes to Lydia, even though he is normally such a powerful and imposing figure. In addition to the romance itself, I like the supporting characters in ONE BITE PER NIGHT as well. After being rejected, sight unseen, by her grandmother Lydia gains a family in Vincent's friends like Ian and Angelica. I like the easy feeling of comradery between Lydia and Angelica. The friendship adds some lighter moments to the story. I also liked the subplot involving Thomas Lawrence and the Siddons sisters. I wouldn't mind seeing Sally and Maria Siddons in future stories. I was worried at first that their involvement in ONE BITE PER NIGHT would be more sinister, but they are interesting and fun characters. ONE BITE PER NIGHT is an exciting story with steamy romance with some gothic elements. I look forward to future books to see what's in store for other supporting characters like the dark, dangerous, and delicious Rafe Villar.

SUMMARY

He wanted her off his hands... Now he'll do anything to hold on to her ...Forever. Vincent Tremayne, the reclusive "Devil Earl," has been manipulated into taking rambunctious Lydia Price as his ward. As Lord Vampire of Cornwall, Vincent has better things to do than bring out an unruly debutante. American-born Lydia Price doesn't care for the stuffy strictures of the ton, and is unimpressed with her foppish suitors. She dreams of studying with the talented but scandalous British portrait painter, Sir Thomas Lawrence. But just when it seems her dreams will come true, Lydia is plunged into Vincent's dark world and finds herself caught between the life she's known and a future she never could have imagined.
