Dominique de Bar, proclaimed by some a seductress, by others a sorceress, was the chatelaine of Montlimoux, its mistress of moonlit spires and sunlit meadows, a chatelaine of a peaceful, contented land that time had left behind. Paxton of Wychchester was a leader of men, a conqueror who knew more of war than love. He commanded Dominiqueβs surrender, taking first her lush holdings and then her vulnerable virginβs body.
But in the sweet ecstasy of their union lay an unexpected twist. Which of them had been seduced, and which truly conquered?
Author Note
Years ago, my life-long friend Rita Clay Estrada
and I went to France to research separate novels(I also took my mom
with me). I was working on the glitz/glamor/international espionage,
Snow and Ice. Captivated by the ancient city of Avignon, I returned
twice after that and, after reading of its alchemical history in Holy
Blood, Holy Grail, I knew I had to write a historical about its
rumored sorceress, Dominique De Bar and the English war lord Paxton,
who would seem immune to her alchemical efforts.
