I'm currently reading somethingorother "in White," by Queen Nora. It has an
extremely endearing nerd hero. As for Prof. Higgins, I far prefer the first ending
of the original play, in which Eliza dumped the misanthropic jerk and went off
with, oh, whatshisface, Freddie. Freddie was a loser but at least he wasn't a jerk.
She'd be best off with Col. Pickering. (Perhaps he has a young nephew?)

I think I'd go for the sexy nerd hero, too. ALthough, reading romance novels, I'm with Barbara, that I always like the heros. Otherwise I wouldn't read the book!

I love a hero who is strong yet sensitive to women, children and animals.
Throw is kindness and lots of humor and you have a wonderful man. If he's

I dig the Physical Warrior hero type with a mix of the sexy nerd. A hero I most recently fell in love with was Jim Owens from The Other Guy's Bride. He was strong and a fighter who could protect, but he was also very smart. On top of that he was funny, there was a part at the beginning of the book where he pretended to be this lawless cowboy ruffian because that was what the heroine stereotyped him as.
I think my fave is also where they're a little broody and dark at the beginning of the journey but then they heal and love by the end.

I love the intellect of the hero - be he a "nerd" or a gentleman that actual has a business. I like that when such characters are written - there is wit and anjoyable conversations, that there are fireworks on multiple levels. I prefer the "nerd" in life too, so maybe I am partial.

I'm not particular about the type of hero. It depends upon the plot as to which type is needed. Once I start reading a book, I block out everything that is going on around me.

I don't know if I've read a book with a nerdy hero. They're usually the Alpha warrior type. Now I'm interested in reading about a nerdy hero though.

I have to say that so far, Michael Hurst is my favorite hero that I've written. I wish this forum had direct replies so I could comment on each post individually, but it doesn't. I like the nerd hero and the Regency setting sounds good,too. I have a book by Heather Snow and the Regency heroine is a scientist, I believe (nerd heroine, anyone?).

I love my heros to be both the nerd and the war-force. I am lucky to have a real-life hero-a badboy. He is my hero cause he did rescue me from a bad situation, and I love him more for that.

Both "The Sexy Nerd Hero" & "The Gentle Seducer Hero" appeal to me the most but sometimes the "Physical Warrior Hero" is good too so I guess it all depends on what kind of story I want to read at the moment.

You might find my comment a bit odd, but I like my hero a cross between the nerdy type and the gentle seducer. The reason I give that answer is because if they're totally nerdy, the romance tends to be a bit stiff, if you pardon the pun. He needs to have the gentle seductive side to him to give the story a bit of air and sustenance that sweeps you off your feet and makes you not only fall in love with him, but get swept away with the story line. I love the thought process you put into your book, and remember the characters you've chosen very well. I would love to read it more than you know. Wonderful cover, and I'm sure a wonderful read!! Congratulations!!

I like the physical warrior type hero... although I LOVE Indiana Jones. One of my
husband's favorite movies, believe it or not, is My Fair Lady. I have been called

I love nerds, perhaps because I've got more in common with them than most other people; I've always been considered a nerd myself, except for my love of romances. However, I also read books on subjects from archaeology and astronomy to geology to theology, and others between. It all depends on my mood.
As for Scotland, many of my favorites books are set there. I started hearing about it from my mother who spent 6 months there improving her English there.

When I read "Regency sexy nerd heroes" I thought, does she mean Oscar Wilde? In those days the image we have of intellectual men is mostly poets. This was not of course a desired quality in a lady as an intellectual young woman might not catch a husband. Once married she could reveal her true colours and I am sure many women ended up running the husband's estate, especially if he was away at war. I don't think the mooning poet type would be my hero, but the adventurous type you describe, studying Egypt and deciphering heiroglyphs, that lad would go down a treat!
