Young Adult Paranormal

SONG OF EDMON by Adam Burch is the first book in the Fracture World series and is a paranormal young adult novel. This book has the feel of Edmond Dantes in THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO and is sure to have your attention from the first page.

SONG OF EDMON is a dark book where the unknown and unexpected lurks in the shadows. Edmon just cannot keep his mouth shut making him an easy target and causing lots of drama. He has a love for music, art, and is against fighting. Edmon's character is well developed and planned to mesh with the overall feel of the story. There are other characters that are just as developed and entertaining with detailed pasts that help play a role in current situations.

The book is told from a first person point of view which helps to add to the suspense and fantasy theme. Burch has a uniquely different writing style that is quite entertaining but mysterious at the same time. While the world may be exciting living on a planet that no longer spins, there still is the fear of the unknown. Do you choose to live in complete light every minute of every day? Knowing that with the night there are no stars. Or do you choose the darkness? Never knowing what daylight feels like and always in fear of what might be hidden in the shadows so far out of sight yet you still have the stars to keep you company.

I really enjoyed reading SONG OF EDMON and found it easy to get lost in the story enjoying every minute of this science fiction fantasy. The ending is quite the cliffhanger and seems to set things up for the next book in the Fracture World series. I cannot wait to read what lies ahead for this group of characters as their journey continues. I highly recommend SONG OF EDMON to science fiction fantasy fans.

SUMMARY

In Adam Burch’s thrilling series debut, a young man must choose between violence and peace in a distant world divided between those who thrive in endless sunlight and those who survive in eternal darkness. The isolated planet of Tao is a house divided: the peaceful Daysiders live in harmony while the pale Nightsiders pursue power and racial purity through the violent ritual of the Combat. Edmon Leontes, the gentle son of a ruthless warrior noble and a proud Daysider, embodies Tao’s split nature. The product of diametrically opposed races, Edmon hopes to live a quiet life pursuing the music of his mother’s people, but his Nightsider father cruelly forces him to continue in his bloody footsteps to ensure his legacy. Edmon’s defiance will cost him everything…and spark a revolution that will shake the foundations of Tao. His choice—to embrace the light or surrender to the darkness—will shape his own fate and that of his divided world.
