Retired US Agent Langford Reilly receives news that his
sister and young nephew are killed in a fireball explosion
in Paris. Grief-stricken, he flies to France to find the
only thing remaining of his sister's is an old replica
painting, the kind of medieval art she loved to collect.
But something isn't right, and even in his state of shock
and mourning, Lang's training kicks in after a knife-
welding motorcyclist nearly runs him down on the footpath.
Okay, so maybe Europeans do ride on the footpath, but when
a stranger breaks into his apartment in Atlanta, and then
jumps off the balcony to his death rather than be caught,
Lang knows he's onto something grave and it all has to do
with his sister's painting.
Lang hooks up with a former partner from the Agency and
with her help he begins to track the people tracking him.
With a snapshot taken of the painting and a medieval
manuscript, Lang begins to unravel the twisted truth lying
within the artist's strokes. A picture that paints a
thousand words and holds within it the deepest, darkest
secret of mankind. A secret so closely guarded that if
disclosed would rock the foundation of Christendom. A
secret so closely guarded that men are willing to lay down
their lives without thought.
THE PEGASUS SECRET is a driving thriller that slams the
reader from the first page and doesn't let up until the
explosive end when Lang breaks the painting's ancient code
and learns for himself the dreaded secret held for
centuries in the bosom of a chivalrous order. There was no
spot to stop and put this novel down. It's fast-paced and
intermixed with the writings of Pietro of Sicily, who gives
us the historical account of the secret without giving it
away. I loved the intelligent, savvy character of Lang
Reilly created by Mr. Loomis. A fantastic novel - I loved
it and highly recommend it!
What started as a suspicious explosion in a picturesque
Parisian neighborhood could end in revelations that would
shatter the beliefs of millions. American lawyer Lang
Reilly is determined to find the real cause of the blast
that killed his sister. But his investigation will lead him
into the darkest corners of history and religion. And it
may cost him his life. Lang’s search for the truth begins
with a painting his sister bought just before she died.
Could there be something about the painting itself that
made someone want to kill her? Every mysterious step of the
way, Lang unearths still more questions, more hidden
secrets and more danger, until finally he arrives at the
heart of a centuries-old secret order that will stop at
nothing to protect what is theirs.
