Fresh Fiction Review

Boomerang
Noelle August

Romance Contemporary | New Adult

When Ethan and Mia wake up together, dazed and confused as to what exactly happened between them the night before, they try to awkwardly shrug it off and tell each other bye. When they awkwardly end up sharing a taxi and arriving at the same destination, Boomerang Headquarters, they find out they are both competing for the same job slot after their internships. Beyond the surprising competition, their bosses also inform them of the no-dating rule for coworkers. As the tensions rise, will they give into the connection they had before or fight their feelings to get their dreams?

BOOMERANG by Noelle August makes a delightful splash in the New Adult world with a story of humor, internships with job competition, and sexually charged banter that will keep readers grinning. It combines the perfect and very millennial mixture of romantic angst over past relationships with the undeniable pull and attraction of someone special to possibly connect with.

The protagonists, Mia and Ethan, should have no trouble capturing hearts with their fierce desires to make something of themselves, have a good time, and find some kind of success. I particularly love the minor inclusions of their relationships with their families. Mia is trying to find her own voice separate from her family, and Ethan is trying to make his family proud of him. These two characters complement each other in beautiful ways, and it is extraordinarily easy to fall in love with them and their story.

BOOMERANG has without a doubt left me wanting more. I can't wait to see what Noelle August writes next, and I can only hope it will be filled with as many swoons, giggles, and frantic page-turning as this one.

SUMMARY

The first book in a sensational New Adult trilogy from Noelle August. Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up. Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret. Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters. What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer. As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started?
