FBI Special Agent Vaughn Roberts story is up in IT HAPPENED
ONE WEDDING. Vaughn is the ultimate playboy, and still
enjoying himself immensely playing the field. He is in a
coffee shop one evening, where he observes a good-looking
woman struggling through what is obviously a blind date.
When her date leaves, Vaughn decides to make a play for the
woman himself; and is more than a little surprised when she
coldly brushes him off and leaves.
Sidney Sinclair has just moved back home to Chicago to take
a job as the director of an investment firm. She has just
left New York City after finding out her fiancé cheated on
her two weeks before the wedding. Chicago is Sidney's chance
to start again with a new life and a new job. She has her
own strong ideas as to what constitutes an ideal man. Sidney
is looking for relationship material; and the smooth-talking
stranger in the coffee shop falls far short of her ideals.
Thirty minutes later, Sidney meets her sister Isabelle and
her boyfriend Simon for dinner, to hear the big announcement
that they are getting married. Who should she find sitting
at the table with them but Vaughn, who just happens to be
Simon's brother. Sidney and Vaughn are each asked to stand
up for their siblings; so they are looking at three months
of being thrown together a good deal before the wedding. So
begins the 'dance' between a prickly woman who has sworn off
the wrong kind of man; and a charmer who is still looking
for fun and nowhere near ready to settle down. What follows
is a battle of two strong wills; a man using his
considerable charm to make a woman fall for him, and a woman
who will have none of him. Will Sidney fall for the roguish
and cocky Vaughn's allure, or will he come to heel as ideal
relationship material?
IT HAPPENED ONE WEDDING is the 5th book in Julia James
always delectable FBI?US Attorney' series. As
always, the
story is well-written and witty; a hallmark of this authors
writing. James specializes in white collar world people
looking for love in all the wrong places. There are some
interesting insights into both protagonists jobs, as well as
some drama surrounding Isabelle. There are also several
scenes of warm and funny catch-up moments with characters
from the previous books in the series.
IT HAPPENED ONE
WEDDING, however, can easily be read standalone; and would
be a good starting place for new readers to Julia James
delectable stories.
