Lydia Colson is a midwife trying running from her dark past.
The past year she has been avoiding intrusive questions on
the whereabouts of her husband who has been away the past
year she has settled in Salem. On her way home from helping
one of the neighbors, she comes upon a magnificent horse
with its rider laying on the ground still attached to the
animal by the stirrup.
Henry Dunham's errand takes him to Salem in search of his
half brother for his mother. He is thrown from his horse,
Willard in the middle of the night and rescued by the local
Puritan midwife, Lydia and taken back to her home to
recover.
The next morning Lydia and Henry are caught in a
compromising situation, one punishable by Puritan law, Henry
claims to be her husband back from his travels. Having a
fake marriage, Lydia and Henry find that their passion for
one another is immediate and are taking their vows very
seriously.
As their feelings for each other grow, word spreads about a
stranger looking for Lydia. Their relationship is tested
when neighbors turn on Lydia and she is arrested for
witchcraft. Henry must find a way to save Lydia before she
is sent to the gallows. As for the stranger looking for
Lydia, it turns out it is someone they both know.
I really enjoyed HER WICKED SIN. Being the first, it is a
great
way to start The Sins of Salem Series. The
characters are
strong with pasts that neither are too proud of. Henry
having come from a wealthy family where marriage is being
forced upon him. Lydia's dark past comes from running from
her abusive husband. I can't wait to see what the next book
in the series brings!
On a moonless
night, he rides into the winter forest on his beast as black
as midnight...
Dashing
stranger, Henry Dunham, comes to Salem on a mysterious
errand, but is thrown from his horse in the dead of night
and rescued by the local Puritan midwife, Lydia
Colson.
Haunted by her past,
Lydia is running from her own dark secrets, avoiding
intrusive questions by pretending her dead husband is
simply... away. But when she and Henry are caught in a
compromising situation, one punishable by Puritan law, he
saves her from scandal by claiming to be her errant
spouse... and claiming her
bed.
Forced to fake a marriage,
Lydia and Henry find their passion overwhelming and their
vows a little too real. As their lies become truths, a witch
hunt closes in on Lydia, threatening not only their
burgeoning love, but her life.
