Romance Contemporary

When college roommates Maddy, Christine and Amy read the bestselling self help book by their fourth roommate, Jane, they were impressed and excited...until they realized they'd been used as examples of women who let fear rule their lives. Determined to prove Jane wrong, they challenged each other to face and conquer one fear. And they have one whole year to do it. Now, with just a few months until her year is up, Christine Ashton is finally ready.

Christmas in Silver Mountain, Colorado, is an Ashton family tradition; a tradition that Christine has avoided for years because, while she loves to ski, she's deathly afraid of riding up the lifts. This year, she's come to Colorado early, determined to overcome her fear, not only to fulfill her challenge, but so she can beat the pants off her older brother and earn her father's approval for once. She's hired a ski instructor for a week of lessons, hoping that he'll be able to whip her into shape before the rest of her family arrives.

As a favor to a friend, Alec Hunter agrees to give Christine private lessons, expecting her to be some pampered rich girl. When he catches his first glimpse of his student, he finds the idea of spending a week with her isn't that bad.

From the start, Christine and Alec hit it off. Finding that they share the same sense of humor, makes Christine yearn to take him up on his many offers of drinks, dinner, coffee, anything to get her to stay with him after their lessons are over. But Christine has decided she can no longer date men like Alec. Unemployed playboys have gotten her in trouble before, and Maddy and Amy keep reminding her of this every time she feels like giving in and going out with Alec.

But when Alec discovers that Christine isn't the pampered socialite he thinks she is, and she learns he isn't the ski bum she thinks he is, sparks fly.

Julie Ortolon has a way of drawing you into her characters and really connecting with them. I had a lot of fun with this book. It's a great "I'm escaping and don't want to put it down" read. I highly recommend it.
