At 592 years of age, all vampire Lenah longs for is
mortality. She is tired of the existence she's lead for
centuries, the evil that has taken over her soul. In a
final gesture of love, her creator, lover and friend Rhode
makes the ultimate sacrifice to give Lenah the mortality
she desires. Granted the life that was once taken away,
Lenah is given a second chance as a 16-year-old. Rhode
arranges for her to be a student, protected within the
walls of Wickham Boarding School. Lenah makes friends with
Tony and Justin and is enjoying her new life.
Unfortunately for Lenah, vampires live forever, and the
vicious coven she created centuries before has been waiting
for her return. With Lenah no longer one of them, the
members of her coven have been lying in wait, all but
Vicken, who shares a bond with Lenah that will not allow
him to harm her. When Vicken warns her of the coming
battle, Lenah has very little time to put together a plan
that will save those she has come to love. Faced with
having to make the ultimate sacrifice, Lenah's choices have
unexpected results, but will her sacrifice be enough to
save everyone?
INFINITE DAYS by Rebecca Maizel is an interesting
take on the vampire legend. Rather than enjoying her
immortality, the heroine, Lenah, longs for the peace of
mortality. The adjustment of a centuries-old girl adapting
to the 21st century offers some amusing moments. Lenah is
faced with some difficult choices, and memories of her past
life guide the humanity she is learning to live with.
Lenah's story is darker than many of this genre, but
INFINITE DAYS is well-written and will give readers a
different view of the vampire myth.
