For the past two hundred years, the members of the Vicknair
family have helped ghosts to complete their unfinished
business and cross over to the other side. But until now,
they have never faced a malicious ghost intent on causing
terror and violence. This particular spirit is haunting
Chantelle Bedaeu, a beautiful woman whose sister was
murdered the previous year, becoming a spirit in need of
help from the Vicknairs. Although the two men responsible
for the murder were caught, Chantelle now fears that one of
the men is trying to seek revenge from beyond the grave.
Firefighter Tristan Vicknair felt a connection to Chantelle
from the moment she set foot in the Vicknair plantation
following her sister's death, which is why he was delighted
when Chantelle asked him to come to her bed. But after only
one night of passion, Chantelle stopped returning his calls.
Tristan suspected that her history of sexual abuse as a
teenager played into her reluctance to enter into a real
relationship, a theory which was born out when he realized
that Chantelle faked her orgasms when they were together.
So when Chantelle makes a dramatic appearance at the
plantation with a violent ghost in tow, Tristan knows that
this is his one chance to help Chantelle overcome her fears
for good, which might also allow her to let him into her heart.
Chantelle knows that she needs Tristan's help, especially
when the ghost's actions escalate from scare tactics to
violent attacks, but she's torn between her strong
attraction to the sexy firefighter and her fear of the
memories that return to her whenever she gets into a sexual
situation. With the ghost feeding off of her fear and her
own life hanging in the balance, Chantelle must learn to
conquer the nightmares of her past if she ever hopes to
accept the pleasure and love that Tristan offers.
FIRE IN THE BLOOD is the latest edition in Kelley St.
John's Vicknair Blaze series. The villain in this book is
creepy, particularly because he's invisible and strikes
without warning, while the concept of a ghostly grandmother
who dispenses assignments by way of a tea service in the
sitting room is delightfully creative, and helps to add
levity to an otherwise heavy plot. Fans of St John's earlier
Vicknair novels will enjoy the continuing adventures of this
highly unusual family.
A night’s romp with sexy firefighter Tristan Vicknair

“That tub is a little small for both of us, don’t you
think?” Chantelle asked.
Tristan tugged his T-shirt from his jeans and pulled it up
over his head. She was treated to an awe-inspiring display
of abs and pecs.
“I was hoping you’d ask me to join you,” he said. “Glad to
see we’re thinking alike.” Tristan stepped close and put
his hands on her shoulders. “If you’re not comfortable
with this,” he said, indicating the tub filled with
steaming water, “then we won’t even try it. I’ll admit, I
was trying to think of some way to connect intimately with
you. This seemed like a good idea.” He shrugged. “Hell,
I’m a guy. Any idea that involves me naked with a
beautiful woman seems like a damn good idea.”
She laughed, rising on her toes to press her mouth to his.
She let the heat, the sensation flowing through her take
control, and she curved her body into his, her center
rubbing against the hard bulge in his jeans.
“But will it be hard for you, bathing me?”
He pulled her tightly against him, and said, “Honey, this
can’t get much harder…”
