Romance Suspense | Mystery Woman Sleuth

Psychologist Christina McMullen answers her doorbell expecting to yell at her very late boyfriend, the sexy Lieutenant Rivera. Instead, there's a drop-dead gorgeous stranger at her door, who proceeds to do just that, drop dead when he's shot. As the bullets whiz by just inches from Christina's head, she cannot believe this is happening again. Is there a giant target on her? There have been several attempts on her life lately, but as far as she knows, the culprits are either dead or incarcerated.

Shocked at her luck and frightened by the attempt, Rivera digs relentlessly to find information. He unearths a rap sheet that infers the dead man was a hit man. He begs Christina to leave L.A., but she refuses. When her brother, Pete, arrives for an unexpected visit from Chicago, she should feel relieved, except trouble always trails Pete and this is no exception. The soon-to-be-married Pete has a loan shark after him, plus a few other disgruntled people. He pleads with Christina to act as his intermediary and help him with his difficulties.

Put-out with her dumbass brother, Christina reluctantly agrees to help him, since he is family. She tells half- truths to Rivera, knowing he would not approve. Once again, Christina's love life suffers major interruptions as she attempts to fix her brother's problems and figure out who is trying to kill her.

Welcome to the wacky and wonderful world of Christina McMullen and Lieutenant Rivera. Ms. Greiman perfectly balances screwball comedy, mystery and romance. The dialogue sparkles with wit and humor, the mystery is convincing and the sexual tension between the two is hot! Ms. Greiman has found her forte in this excellent mystery series.

SUMMARY

Even in a city of long, tall beauties, psychologist Christina McMullen is used to getting hit on. But she's definitely not accustomed to having a hit on her. Until the day a charming stranger shows up at her door – and someone guns him down right in front of her.

For Chrissy, shootings and explosions are what pass for normal in her tempestuous relationship with sexy LAPD lieutenant Jack Rivera. But the real mayhem begins when her brother Pete blows in from the Windy City trailing clouds of trouble in the form of a pregnant girlfriend, “borrowed” money, and a mobster named “D.” Chrissy always said her family would be the death of her – but even L.A.’s sassiest shrink isn’t prepared for the truth behind her brother’s link to the dead stranger... or the killer who threatens them both.
