Caridad Scordato
Caridad Piñeiro Scordato was born in Havana, Cuba. Her
family came to the United States in the early 1960s to
escape Fidel Castro and his communist regime, settling in
the New York Metropolitan area. She currently lives in
Edison, New Jersey with her family on a tree-filled
property she vows to leave only for the Jersey Shore.
Caridad entered the public school system in Levittown and
like many hyphenated Americans, became known as Charity to
her English-speaking friends and neighbors. She also
discovered her love of the written word when her fifth
grade teacher assigned her class a project - to write a
book that would be placed in a class lending library for
fellow students to read. Naturally she wrote a romance and
has been hooked ever since.
Caridad attended Villanova University on a Presidential
Scholarship and graduated Magna cum laude with a B.S. in
Science in 1980. She went on to earn a Juris Doctor from
St. John's University in Jamaica, Queens.
Caridad is also a partner at a Mid-Manhattan law firm and
has helped write articles which have appeared in the New
York Law Journal. She has been married for over twenty
years, and is the mother of a thirteen-year old girl budding
artist (who keeps Caridad on her toes).
