Daniel Hernandez is completing his senior year at the University of Arizona. The twenty-two-year-old student is credited with having saved the life of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords during the shooting rampage in Tucson, Arizona, on January 8, 2011. At that time he was a political intern in Giffords’s office. Mr. Hernandez was recently elected to the Sunnyside Unified School District governing board. He lives in Tucson, Arizona.
