Nan Parson Rossiter
Pseudonym for Nan Rossiter.
Nan Rossiter was born in Mount Vernon, New York
on March 31, 1964. Some of her earliest memories include
exploring every corner of her Pelham neighborhood on a green
bike with a banana seat and sissy bar. She also remembers
wearing a hooded sweatshirt, carrying a notebook and
pretending to be Harriet the Spy. Nan later moved
with her family to Barkhamsted, Connecticut
where she attended Northwestern Regional #7 High School.
She is also a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. After working in the freelance field and creating art for
internationally recognized companies such as Viking, MasterCard
and UPS, Nan began writing and illustrating books for children.
She is the author-illustrator of Rugby & Rosie, an American
Bookseller Pick of the Lists and winner of Nebraska’s
Golden Sower Award, The Way Home, one of
Smithsonian Magazine’s Notable Books for Children,
Sugar on Snow and
The Fo'c'sle, Henry Beston's "Outermost House". Nan's novels, The Gin & Chowder Club and
Words Get In the Way
are available in trade paperback, kindle and e-book.
She also has a short story in the Fern Michaels
Christmas anthology, Making Spirits Bright. Nan lives in rural Connecticut with her husband, two
handsome sons and a noble yellow Lab named Mulligan.
When she’s not working, she enjoys hiking with her family
or curling up with a good book.
