Well, talk about a mistaken sense of security. Just when you thought it's okay to let down your guard a situation causes a quick unexpected one-hundred-and-eighty-degree turn for the worse. For Evelyn Talbot, her world finally seemed to be on a calm and somewhat normal trajectory aiming for happiness and contentment. And if there ever was someone who deserved it Evelyn does. Since she was a teenager, Evelyn has gallantly strived for normalcy after surviving a terror-ridden attack. But Brenda Novak obviously had other ideas.
In BLIND SPOT, Brenda Novak pulls the rug right out from under our feet. Evelyn Talbot manages Hanover House, a prison housing psychopaths. These psychopaths are her subjects and her enemies. Evelyn wants to find out just what drives someone to perform acts of violence that candidly make them more animal than human. That’s her goal and she is driven. These subjects are a scary bunch of serial tormentors and killers. Hanover House was designed with this unique selected population of prisoners.
BLIND SPOT is the fourth installment of the Dr. Evelyn Talbot series and it takes this series to whole other dimension. Evelyn has finally entered into a personal relationship with Sergeant Amarok who has been very vocal about housing these demons in his small town in Alaska. They are in the midst of actually planning their wedding, and they are going to be parents. Yes, Brenda Novak decided to throw still another wrench in the works - Evelyn is pregnant and now her life and that of her unborn child is in danger at the hands of a kidnapper. Not just any kidnapper. This had been very carefully planned by someone truly intelligent and charismatic. Someone we all thought was dutifully under lock and key – mentally and physically in no condition to ever be a threat. Well, we obviously were wrong. Ah ha. We learn quickly just who planned this kidnapping and now we have to sit back and watch Amarok et al figure it out.
Time passes very quickly in BLIND SPOT. You can’t turn the pages quick enough and the suspense builds rapidly. Fans of Hanover House have become quite fond of Evelyn and Amarok. We are also well acquainted with two of the most frightening of Evelyn’s subjects - Jasper Moore and Lyman Bishop - both of whom play quite a role in BLIND SPOT. Time is definitely working against Amarok. But he is following clues from some much-unexpected sources. Hopefully, time will tell. BLIND SPOT is an excellent addition to an already well- crafted series designed to scare and creep you out. Brenda Novak eerie imagination has created some diabolically evil characters for the Hanover House. This is book number four and you can’t help recollecting all the prisoners we have met. Luckily just on the pages of the Hanover House series.
New York Times bestseller Brenda Novak's Evelyn Talbot series returns, with a heavily pregnant Evelyn being held hostage.
