Young Adult Suspense

Reeve's End is one of the bleakest, small towns that anyone can be stuck living in and Winter Crane's one and only goal is to get out of this Kentucky backwoods environment. She has goals and the biggest one is to save enough money along with being awarded enough scholarships that will allow her to make her escape. Her sister and best friend have both left and she has never heard from them again. Winter figures that is just the way things go. Once she is able to leave this hell hole behind, she has no plans to ever look back.

Winter has it all figured out until the day she meets a really cute guy named Lennon. He has managed to become snared in one of her traps in the forest and somehow made it to a tree where he managed to climb to safety from a pack of wild dogs before passing out. After several hours of remaining in the tree herself, she was finally able to safely descend and figure out a way to get the unconscious boy from the tree back to her secret shack in the woods.

Once he wakes up, Lennon and Winter talk and get to know each other until he is able to move around, which is good since there are noises beating upon the door and the sides of the shack. Eventually, the two are able to escape into the woods and Winter sneaks Lennon into her trailer.

The next morning, Lennon was gone. Later in the day, another really cute guy shows up on a motorcycle looking for his brother, Lennon. This boy's name is Jude and he and Winter bond as they search for the missing people they love. The search turns out to be an exercise in terror, even though they do get their answers.

The thing is, the answers they uncover are too shocking to contemplate.

If you are already a follower of Kelley Armstrong and the awesome worlds she creates through her writing, then you know what a great book MISSING is. For those of you who have not read anything by Ms. Armstrong, this is a great one to start on a gripping journey. With the usual perfection that fans of Ms. Armstrong have come to expect, the plot of MISSING will not disappoint.

The characters are smart, determined and stubborn, which is also a trademark of Kelley Armstrong's books. Winter is totally focused on her goal of getting out of Reeve's End but she also does everything she can to help out her neighbors who might just need her. As you can imagine, Winter does not get a lot of sleep as she joins Jude in his search for Lennon, her sister, and her friend because she not only cares about people in need but she has become a bit attached to him in the process.

As this is a gritty, scary book, MISSING cannot be ignored by fans of plots that cause you to keep looking on your shoulder. You will also not want to visit any woods in the near future. The answers to the mysteries presented in MISSING are there by the end of the ride you took to find them. It should also be mentioned that this is a rather "clean" book that probably would be rated a PG-13 if you were going to see it in a theater, which is where it definitely deserves to be! Kelley Armstrong has a very unique writing style that combines the supernatural, mystery, quirky characters, and humor that no one should ever miss.

SUMMARY

Fans of Jennifer Donnelly will flock to the new romantic thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong.

The only thing Winter Crane likes about Reeve's End is that soon she'll leave it. Like her best friend did. Like her sister did. Like most of the teens born in town have done. There's nothing for them there but abandoned mines and empty futures. They're better off taking a chance elsewhere.

What Winter will miss is the woods. Her only refuge. At least it was. Until the day she found Lennon left for dead, bleeding in a tree.

But now Lennon is gone too. And he has Winter questioning what she once thought was true. What if nobody left at all? What if they're all missing?
