Mary Kildare is an orphan. At one year old her mother left
her on
the steps of a Catholic Church and Mary was brought up by a
nun, Sister Mary Francis. She was taught to be passionately
independent and prides herself on being able to take care of
herself. Mary is gorgeous, smart, feisty and alone. She
is a therapist and is treating her patients while suffering
from her own abandonment issues. Mary lives in a condo
development and her BFF, Dakota, and her new husband, Walt,
live across the street. Awaiting the birth of a baby, Mary
goes over to cheer the mother-to-be. Having to go to the
bathroom, Dakota goes upstairs. Coming back down, she
trips and falls hard and breaks a leg. Looks like she also
broke her water and is headed immediately to the hospital.
Later that night Baby Leo is born and quickly family and
friends gather to welcome him. Mary goes down to the Gift
Shop and sees a familiar face. Glen Fairfield, a handsome
hunk she met a year ago, and like their first meeting, their
attraction sizzles! Again their flirty banter erupts and
Glen decides to ask Mary for a date.
What a date it turns out to be. Who could resist this sexy
charmer? He arrives with a bouquet of roses and a kiss.
One of his private plans whisks them from LA to San
Francisco. Drinks at the Top of the Mark, and with wine
and a fabulous view. Then on to Fisherman's Wharf, and filet
Mignon and more vino. They talk easily, and laugh and joke
non-stop. He takes her home and walks her to her door. No
strings attached. Glen is very wealthy and CFO of a family
owned Worldwide Charter Company. Looks like Mary finds him
irresistible and visa versa. Mary lives in CA and Glen in
NY. Their East Coast-West Coast relationship begins with
gusto!
It helps that he has planes and pilots always ready.
NOT QUITE PERFECT serves up a delicious recipe for a
romantic tale, adds a twist of suspense and a sprinkling of
some HOT sex to add zest. Catherine Bybee does not
disappoint in this fifth in the Not Quite series. I
thoroughly enjoyed Mary and Glen's lovely escapade. Glen
is hands down my newest book boyfriend. He is sweet,
funny, thoughtful, a jet-setter and a playboy. Did I
mention he was a stud and handsome? He does not have
relationships but dates often, but never more than once or
twice. He finds Mary different and he woos her with a
passion and perhaps a serious goal this time. Can he be
tamed?
For those of you who love a story filled with romantic
locales and filled with exciting suspense, this one is for
you. Can you figure out who is stalking Mary?
Why is someone trashing her home , business and writing
nasty words on her mirror? Ms. Bybee will keep you turning
these pages, guessing, hoping and rooting for a happily ever
after. I loved it. You will too.
Mary Kildare knows how to read people. It’s both why she
makes a great therapist and why she refuses to trust the
average bachelor. Staying fiercely independent has been her
primary relationship strategy—until wealthy playboy pilot
(and commitmentphobe) Glen Fairchild reappears in her life.
After a yearlong teasing tug-of-war, Mary and Glen test the
waters of attraction, only to find that their physical
chemistry runs deeper than flirtation.
At first, a bicoastal romance suits them both—especially
since Glen can swoop in and whisk Mary away on one of his
company’s planes. But no matter how close they get, they’re
still three thousand miles apart. And when Mary’s life is
threatened, Glen realizes the one luxury he doesn’t have is
time. Can he close the distance between them before it’s too
late?
