Hunter Blackwell, a handsome billionaire, is listed as one of Forbes' top eligible bachelors. Hunter is a shrewd businessman, used to getting his way in everything. Now, he needs a wife. Problems in his personal life are on the horizon and he must take swift action. He turns to Alliance, a matchmaking company for the elite that provides temporary arrangements or marriage. A client must meet their vigorous vetting. Gabriella Masini is in charge of his application. As is their rule, a personal interview is required.
Gabi meets Hunter and after a scant five minutes of asking him questions, she declines his application. She tells him that Alliance will not help him. When she walks away from him, Hunter is shocked. No one refuses him. He calls his private investigator, Remington. He has a plan for Gabriella Masini, and he wants to start that plan NOW.
Gabi has dirt in her background. She is heartsick from the betrayal of her husband, Alonzo Picano. Though married briefly, he was a liar, brutal and abusive, but he was killed by an associate in his drug smuggling ventures. Gabi is hurt and distrustful of men. She made a bad choice in her relationship with Alonzo and won't do that again. This is part of the information Hunter discovers about her. He blackmails her to marry him. The financial offer he makes for an 18-month marriage of convenience with fabulous perks like a new house, is one she cannot refuse. She will be financially secure forever. They marry and their adventure together begins.
This is a feel good book that I devoured. Catherine Bybee is high on my list of favorite romance writers. She never fails to please and TREASURED BY THURSDAY is one delicious example. It is my favorite in the Weekday Brides series. Gabi and Hunter have dazzling chemistry and their banter had me laughing hard and often. After receiving a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, a sweet love note, and a romantic dinner, she smilingly asks, "So can you step in front of a bus tomorrow?"
Hunter wooing Gabi is a delight, and I wonder who could resist the romantic things he did and said. A tastefully told love story with a twist of mystery, family, friendships, glamorous settings with a large dose of testosterone from Hunter is thrown in. The plot engages you from start to finish with characters that are colorful and add to the exciting plot. Her mother teaching Hunter to make "pasta from scratch" is endearing and finds me in happy tears. The forever together ending I love and find heartwarming. Five stars to Ms. Bybee. I will be waiting for your next book impatiently, but loyally.
