Wow, the life of a professional rodeo clown is even more dangerous than I'd realised. And in this thrilling tale the lady clown is also in danger of losing her heart. RODEO RESCUER looks behind the scenes at the brave people who work to protect others.
Tonya Waters can face down a thousand-pound Brahma bull. But her former boyfriend turns up to stalk her out of the blue and she just wants to hide. A bull rider turns up and the stalker meekly heads off, but Tonya knows he'll be back. That buckaroo, Seth Starke, realises something is up with the plucky girl in the clown suit. But she won't admit to needing help.
Tonya's lost a boyfriend to a bull already. Now she sees Seth get injured in a split second before help can reach him in the Nashville arena. Next time there might be nobody to come between her and Hank Newman, the stalker.
We also meet Mia, another clown who shows tricks with her dogs to entertain the crowd. Wire walking and typical clown stunts are part of Tonya's repertoire. Gymnastics and speed keep them alive as they deflect a bull's attention from a cowboy on the ground. The girls band together as male rodeo clowns tend to resent the female intrusion into their world. But to keep Mia safe, Tonya has to leave - and Seth offers to let Tonya hide out with him while he recovers. Will this be enough, with a determined maniac on her trail? The clown has no intention of letting Seth get close enough to her to get hurt, but sometimes the best intentions don't work out that way.
This is the second book in the Wranglers Corner series. RODEO RESCUER by Lynette Eason has set a strong standard and the other romantic suspense westerns you read this year will probably pale in comparison. When a bull charges, it's acting out of instinct, but a stalker is personal, and the combination of dangers boils over to create a story that is impossible to put down. The romance builds slowly and steadily in this tale, which is suitable for readers of adult or young adult age. I'm really impressed by Lynette Eason's inspiration and research and I'd be happy to recommend RODEO RESCUER to anyone looking for an exciting read.
No matter where she runs, rodeo clown Tonya Waters's stalker always finds her. Now he's
managed to track her down on the rodeo circuit. If bull rider Seth Starke hadn't saved her, she'd
be dead. But when the handsome cowboy is injured in the ring and Tonya rescues him, Seth
seems more determined than ever to keep her safe. But can she risk staying at his Tennessee
ranch and bringing danger to his family? As her stalker gets more violent, Tonya and Seth vow to
outsmart him before he makes good on his ultimate threat: if he can't have her, no one will.
I like this review and am happy someone is telling the rodeo clown's side of the story. It is a very dangerous profession. This also sounds like a book I'm going to have to keep an eye out for! Thank you! (Kathleen Bylsma 12:16pm September 18, 2015)
