THE PROMISE by Robyn Carr is the fifth book in herThunder
Point series.
It features Scott, the local doctor of Thunder Point, and
Peyton, a PA who is
looking for a new job and a new path in her life. Peyton
has just gotten out
of a three year relationship with Ted, a gifted cardiologist
and single father
of three uncontrollable children. Peyton does some research
and decides
to stop in Thunder Point at the family practice. There she
meets Devon,
who fills her in on the town and practice. Peyton thinks
she just might like
to give it a go and leaves her resume with Devon. Before
she can leave
the building, Scott walks in and interviews her on the spot.
He likes what
he sees and hears and offers Peyton a job. Peyton decides
to give him a
commitment of three months to see if Thunder Point is what
she is
searching for.
Scott is a widow with two beautiful and well behaved
children. He is
instantly taken with Peyton but she has made it quite clear
that they will
have a working relationship and nothing more. Here is where
the fun
begins in THE PROMISE. Over time, Peyton meets the towns
people of
Thunder Point and they all become her friends. She likes
the feelings she
has about the town and the people in it. Her feelings for
Scott are starting
to grow and not in an employee/boss kind of way. She is
falling for his
children as they are for her. During this time, she gets a
call from a doctor
in Seattle who wants her for her practice badly. What
should Peyton do?
Should she leave Thunder Point and go to Seattle? Can she
leave this
small town behind now that it has opened it's arms to her?
While everything is moving along perfectly, Ted calls her
and begs her to
come back. That's not going to happen. One day she gets a
phone call
from one of Ted's children and it disturbs her deeply. The
kids never liked
her, fought with her everyday, but when Krissy calls and
explains what is
going on, Peyton feels she has no choice but to go back and
try to help her.
Of course, Ted thinks she is coming back to him and so does
Scott. He
can't give her a third of what Ted can and Scott is afraid
that once she
leaves she is never going to come back.
I love reading Robyn's books and Thunder Point is now
one of my favorite
series. Each time I read her books Robyn pulls me right in
and makes me
fall in love with the town and it's people. It is like
going home to visit old
friends. THE PROMISE was exactly like that for me. As soon
as I started
reading, I couldn't stop. I was flipping the pages like a
mad woman, dying
to know what was going to happen. The town and the people
make Peyton
fall in love with it all, how can she resist the pull she
feels there? Her family,
who we get to meet in THE PROMISE is awesome and I hope we
will learn
more about them in this series. In each book, Robyn brings
you up to date
on couples that have been introduced in the other books in
the series. It
makes for a nice sense of community.
#1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr returns to
Thunder Point with an uplifting story about overcoming loss
and finding unexpected love
Scott Grant has a bustling family practice in the small
Oregon community of Thunder Point. The town and its people
have embraced the widowed doctor and father of two, his
children are thriving, and Scott knows it's time to move on
from his loss. But as the town's only doctor, the dating
pool is limited. That is, until a stunning physician's
assistant applies for a job at his clinic.
Peyton Lacoumette considers herself entirely out of the
dating scene. She's already been burned by a man with kids,
and she's come to Thunder Point determined not to repeat
past mistakes. When Scott offers her a job, at a much lower
salary than she's used to, Peyton is surprisingly eager to
accept…at least for now. She's willing to stay for a three-
month trial period while she explores other options.
Scott and Peyton know the arrangement is temporary—it isn't
enough time to build a real relationship, never mind
anything with lasting commitment. But love can blossom
faster than you think when the timing is right, and this
short visit just might hold the promise of forever.
