Mystery Cozy

Anastasia "Stacy" Graysin, co-owner of Graysin Motion, one of several ballroom dance lesson companies in the Washington D.C. area, is excited to hear that national television show "Ballroom with the B- Listers" will be filming in town. Although business partner Tav is more reluctant to participate, he is soon convinced by Stacy that the publicity could do Graysin Motion good, especially if they win the competition. Plus, the financial windfall of winning could help since the company is finding itself in a bit of trouble with the IRS due to Stacy's late aunt not paying taxes the last few years before she passed. Stacy is even more excited when she finds out that the b- lister she's going to be dancing with is former teen idol Zane Savage, someone whose posters she and her sister Danielle used to have adorning their bedroom walls. Not only are they paired together, but Zane specifically requested her! As they begin preparing for the competition, Stacy is pleased to find out that Zane actually has some dance skills, but she's less pleased to find out that not everything in reality television is actually real, as the producers keep staging drama to improve ratings. But all of the dancing comes to a halt when one of the producers, Tessa King is found dead in the Potomac River. Unfortunately, her death looks neither like an accident nor a suicide, which means that this is the third death that is even remotely tied to Graysin Motion in the recent past. Before many potential students can hear about the negative press that could get out about this, Stacy is determined to solve this mystery, which would also mean a nice reward for the studio, compliments of the show's production team. But can Stacy solve this mystery before she becomes the murderer's second victim? Each book in the Ballroom Dance Mystery series just gets better than the last. The mystery unfolded with great pacing and the reveal scene played out excellently; I never once had the culprit on my radar! Stacy's character is becoming richer, developing more complex relationships with both her sister and her business partner, and the other instructors in the studio are becoming more relevant to each story. People (like me) who know nothing about ballroom dancing will soon be quickstepping their way through the pages of this series!

SUMMARY

One of them has been eliminated…permanently. The traveling TV dance show, Ballroom with the B-Listers, is coming to Washington, D.C., and ballroom dancer Stacy Graysin is first in line to participate. Not only will the publicity propel Graysin Motion, Stacy’s dance studio, into the limelight, but the prize money could help offset her looming debt. Plus, Stacy’s teen idol, heartthrob Zane Savage, specifically requested to be her partner. But the whirlwind reality contest stumbles when the show’s coproducer, Tessa King, is found dead in the Potomac River. All the clues point to Tessa being murdered—and the suspects are the contestants and crew of B-Listers. Now Zane and the rest of the B-Listers must promenade back to fame, and Stacy will need to hustle to maintain her reputation, win the competition, and catch a killer.
