Prepare to fall in love or lust with Sarah Mayberry's
latest book. She hits the mark with SUDDENLY YOU the sequel
to All They
Need but it's so substantial that it stands on its own
merit. Mayberry's style is honest and compassionate and she
handles tricky situations with optimism. Her
characters are never larger than life instead they are real
and flawed and in this story rife with insecurities that
have the ability to impact their future.
Certainly appearances count but it's often questionable if
that should be the deciding factor in judging a person's
worth. Tough guys with muscles, tattoos, clothing choices
have to either live up/down to their image or succumb to
society pressures and change. Changing one's appearance
isn't all that difficult but disguising a character flaw
well that's a tall order.
Pippa knew about appearances and the fact that she was
drawn to the bad guy didn't seem to bode well for her
decision making skills. Take into account that with one
such ill advised affair she conceived her daughter Alice
only to find out that Steve wasn't willing to step up and
acknowledge much less help support their daughter. It was
a devastating development that candidly left her in a
financial quagmire. Her flight of fancy life hadn't
prepared her with a viable career but now she has to face
the hard facts and grow up.
The responsibility of safeguarding and caring for a child
quickly changes a person's outlook on life. Seeking
support from Alice's father is going to be a drawn out
legal battle but she is determined to stay the course.
Holding down multiple jobs while going for her teaching
certificate doesn't leave much time or money for a social
life -- and basically pays for the barest of necessities.
Enter one mouth watering hunk Harry who unfortunately is
one of Steve's best mates. Pippa knows Harry from the
time she was with Steve. When Alice is born Harry is the
only one from that group that comes to the hospital. But
after that all contact with Steve and his friends is
severed.
Harry is becoming uncomfortable with his friends lack of
compassion and interest in the well being of his own child.
It is one thing to dismiss the woman but Harry hasn't been
raised to ever turn his back on family. As events unfurl
Pippa is finding herself in Harry's company pretty
regularly -- unplanned but for one reason or another he is
popping up lending her a hand. Getting to know Pippa is
weighing on Harry's ability to condone Steve's behavior.
Harry is beginning to worry that this might cause quite a
rift between them.
But watching Pippa manage and juggle a tough schedule
without any complaints is having an unwanted effect on
Harry. He fights the enormous attraction he
is beginning to feel for her. He even goes so far as to
warn her that he isn't a long term kind of guy. Problem
is he forgets to heed his own warning.
Sexy, hot and adorable are the best adjectives for this
lovely story about two adults who can't see what's right in
front of them. Neither can afford a leap of faith when it
comes to affairs of the heart. In SUDDENLY YOU Mayberry has
given them the tools -- the rest is up to them. Enjoy.
The definition of a happy man? The guy who knows exactly what he wants and has it. That's Harry Porter. He's got the perfect job, the best buddies and no commitments beyond the next good time. It's the ideal life. Then he stops to help Pippa White when she's stranded by the side of the road. He's known—and liked—her for a while, but as the ex of a friend, she's entirely off-limits. And as fun as the banter with her is, Harry knows single moms are out of his league. So why all the excuses to see Pippa again…and again? And why can't he stop thinking about her? But most puzzling of all is how Harry suddenly wants to swap a night with the boys for one with only Pippa!
