Romance Paranormal

"When a naked man shows up on your doorstep with a bear trap clamped around his ankle, it's best just to do what he asks." So begins this hilarious new book from Molly Harper, the author of the 'Nice Girls..' series.

When Mo Wenstein steps out of her truck, Lucille, and onto the streets of Grundy, Alaska her purpose is to find out where her desires begin and the rebellion to her hippie parents leaves off. This close to her 30th birthday it is about time she learns what she is made of and how she wants to spend the rest of her life. Her thin Mississippi blood is certain to have trouble adjusting to the Alaskan winter when it comes, but she finds plenty of warmth and friendship in the meantime. As one of the few women in town, she doesn't lack for male attention but she's not thinking about starting a relationship and has no trouble turning them away. Even the offer of permanently warm feet and a color television made by Abner Golighty, age 87, fails to win her over. She enjoys a light flirtation with Alan Dahling, U.S. Forestry Ranger, but keeps everything on a casual level as she settles in and finds her footing.

Cooper Graham is another matter entirely. Anytime he's in the same room her pulse picks up, her skin flushes and she wants him, badly. What truly annoys her is the fact he seems to despise her as an outsider has no power to lessen the pull of her libido. Cooper may have the best butt she's ever encountered but she has more important things to accomplish, so she does her best to steer clear of him and his cranky attitude.

This has to be in the top ten of the best books I've read. Harper manages to create a plot where moments of intense danger intersperse with scenes that had me laughing so hard I had to rush from the bedroom before my guffaws woke my husband. I had to read it in one sitting, helplessly drawn to turn one page after another until it was done. The last time a book captured my heart so thoroughly was when I read one of Shelly Laurenston's 'Pride' series books for the first time.

I was delighted to learn the next book in Molly Harper's Werewolf series, The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf is due out very soon.

SUMMARY

Northern Exposure

Even in Grundy, Alaska, it's unusual to find a naked guy with a bear trap clamped to his ankle on your porch. But when said guy turns into a wolf, recent southern transplant Mo Wenstein has no difficulty identifying the problem. Her surly neighbor Cooper Graham - who has been openly critical of Mo's ability to adapt to life in Alaska - has trouble of his own. Werewolf trouble.

For Cooper, an Alpha in self-imposed exile from his dysfunctional pack, it's love at first sniff when it comes to Mo. But Cooper has an even more pressing concern on his mind. Several people around Grundy have been the victims of wolf attacks, and since Cooper has no memory of what he gets up to while in werewolf form, he's worried that he might be the violent canine in question.

If a wolf cries wolf, it makes sense to listen, yet Mo is convinced that Cooper is not the culprit. Except if he's not responsible, then who is? And when a werewolf falls head over haunches in love with you, what are you supposed to do anyway? The rules of dating just got a whole lot more complicated. . . .
