When I think of Nancy Warren I think of a fun light hearted
read that is going to take me away from the daily struggles
of life. Therefore when I sat down to read POWER PLAY her
latest Harlequin Blaze I was confident that I would be
smiling and giggling my way through the story. Needless to
say I was not disappointed.
Emily Saunders has returned to her hometown of Elk Crossing,
Idaho to attend a wedding. Emily has insisted on staying at
the hotel as a means of asserting her independence, and to
try to avoid getting totally wrapped up in the wedding
frenzy. Whether or not staying at the hotel will be the
best idea remains to be seen as soon the peaceful night is
shattered with terrifying screams.
No there is not a brutal murder in progress, but rather an
infestation of bed bugs. Is there anyone who can keep their
head and figure out the true issue? Yes, fortunately there
is...in the form of one level headed Jonah Betts.
Jonah in town for a hockey tournament and Emily soon find
themselves in closer quarters than they care to. With an
unfortunate mix up and hotel rooms in short supply they are
forced to share the last room in town until the Elks
Crossing Lodge is fumigated and all rooms are ready for
occupancy.
Here the tension between the two explodes and Ms. Warren
uses her wonderful writing skills and ability to incorporate
humor into a story that draws readers in. She also adds a
small element of suspense and danger which only encourages
readers to keep on reading rather than setting the book aside.
When I turned the last page of POWER PLAY I was well
satisfied, but also hopeful for a sequel not only to meet up
with Jonah and Emily again, but to go back to Elk Crossing
and visit with some of the secondary characters once again.
If you're looking for an escape from life for a few hours I
don't think POWER PLAY by Nancy Warren will disappoint.
Not easy for Emily
Saunders, who's in Elk Crossing, Idaho, for a family
wedding. She's double booked in the same hotel room with a
sexy cop attending—of all things!—a hockey tournament. As a
massage therapist, Emily's soon itching to soothe
Jonah Betts's gorgeous muscles—both on and off the
ice.
Jonah can't believe his luck—a sexy single woman
sharing his cozy room, albeit temporarily. Okay, her orange
bridesmaid dress is a disaster and her family is convinced
he's actually her boyfriend. He's ready to go along with it
even as he makes his play….
Until Emily is suddenly
calling for a TIME-OUT! Will Jonah's fantasies be
permanently iced?
