Sequestered in a sleazy New York hotel room, Colin Fairfax is confronted by a curly, auburn-haired leprechaun in lieu of the informant he's expecting. The gorgeous, tiny woman is Maggie Ryan, a PI from Texas, of the Delgado family, who possesses white witch magic. Colin is searching for his brother, John, and Maggie is searching for information concerning the family of the orphaned baby girl in her custody. Bullets fly and Colin, pierced in the side, is saved by Maggie and healed with her witchcraft.

Arriving in Zavala Springs, Texas, Colin meets his niece Emma, the sweet baby who's been with Maggie since John and his wife were murdered by drug lord El Jefe, a black witch. The cartel plans to kill Colin for asking too many questions regarding John's death. Hiding away at Maggie's place, she and Colin are shocked by the shots of sexual energy they feel for each other when they touch, and soon find themselves engaged in explosive sex.

Colin has difficulty believing the three Ryans have been cursed with sterility by their great-grandmother after their father was blamed for their mother's death. Maggie is terrified she may lose the only child she will have if Colin takes Emma away. When Maggie and Emma are kidnapped by El Jefe, Colin must avenge his brother while also realizing he will have no life if he loses Maggie and Emma.

Another terrific story in the Safekeepers series; they just get better and better. Linda Conrad just keeps outdoing herself creating each new story, completely unique and full of excitement. Her love scenes are scorching hot and graphic enough to excite any reader. I have found her to be extremely gifted with words and able to create exciting characters. The only fault is the story ends way too soon!
