Olivia Simon is the emergency room physician on duty when
a female gunshot victim is brought in. The woman has been
shot through the heart. Olivia must act quickly, and the
decisions she makes in those few minutes threaten her
career and cost her marriage. Midway through the
controversial surgery, Olivia learns the identity of her
patient--Annie O'Neill, the woman with whom Olivia's
husband, Paul, is obsessively infatuated. Annie dies
during the surgery.
