Honor Stone is a young, idealistic FBI agent when her path collides with Seth Cavanaugh. For a girl who has never walked on the wild side, the dark and dangerous Seth is a temptation she can’t refuse. But then Seth walks out the door and out of her life.

Five years later, Honor is an operative with the elite Last Chance Rescue organization and Seth is a desperate ex-cop searching for his missing niece—one of many young women who have mysteriously vanished from college campuses.

Going undercover, Honor will attract the maniacal cult leader behind the kidnappings and find a way to work with Seth—while steering clear of the passion and need that’s just one touch away from explosion. Seth knows he had all the right reasons for the wrong he did five years ago. And from the moment he sees her—and takes her in his arms again—this former undercover man will risk everything for one more chance with Honor.

Re: Sweet Justice

I think right know that the most evil is the "Bad Guy" is Iris Johansen's villian in her Eve Duncan series. Anyone that kills a child - that is just plain evil - no getting around it. There is a special place in hell for those that evil.
(Kimberley Coover 2:35am September 3, 2011)

Congrats on the upcoming release, Christy. Karen Rose has created many great villains and the one that scared me the most was Simon Vartanian. Not even his family was safe from him.
(
Jane Cheung 3:02am September 3, 2011)

I have not read about a villain creepy enough to really scare me. A movie - yes.
(
Mary Preston 3:36am September 3, 2011)

Romantic suspense, my favorite!
Blessings,
Marjorie
(
Marjorie Carmony 7:10am September 3, 2011)

Sherrilyn Kenyon's Carpathians - when they turn bad they are really bad - blood sucking, ripping throats, messing with your mind - really scary!
(
Barbara Hanson 7:59am September 3, 2011)

The Red Dragon's villain gave me nightmares.
(
Pam Howell 8:48am September 3, 2011)

Haven't read anything that had a creepy villain lately.
(
Sheila True 9:01am September 3, 2011)

I was very disturbed by the villan in The Lovely Bones. He betrayed the trust of a child and then lived next door to the family afterwards. Your book sounds great and I'm very interested!
(
Renee Pajda 9:21am September 3, 2011)

The Villain in The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen was the scariest
one that I have ever read.
(
Deb Threadgill 10:00am September 3, 2011)

Hi Kimberly! I agree. That has got to be the worst kind of villain. And Iris
Johansen's Eve Duncan series is fabulous!
(
Christy Reece 10:01am September 3, 2011)

The bad guy in Red Garnier's THE LAST KISS totally freaked me
out. He made me shudder, and not in a good way. LOL
(
Natalie Sickles 10:03am September 3, 2011)

Hey Jane! Thank you!

And oh yes, Karen Rose writes some absolutely hair raising villains! And
Simon was truly hideous.
(
Christy Reece 10:04am September 3, 2011)

I would agree - Sherrilyn Kenyon's Carpathians are really bad, but for me there was one book that I read the first chapter and put the book down because I just couldn't go there - John Grisham's A Time To Kill. I couldn't handle what those two young men did to that young girl. I can read about the vampires riping out throats - but what they did to the girl. It is to real.
(
Karen Bocchi 10:05am September 3, 2011)

Hi Mary! Sometimes movie villains can be even worse for me. Being able
to 'see' their evil on the screen can make it seem all the more real. I
think Hanibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs gave me a couple of
nightmares. (:
(
Christy Reece 10:09am September 3, 2011)

Happy Saturday everyone! Christy I've read some creepy villains plenty of times, but Alden takes the cake in evilness. He was definitely one of those characters that stay with you. He gave me chills and scared me to death. I think it was because he was so real and you can turn the TV on and hear about creeps like him. Karin Slaughter has some seriously creepy villains along with some of Iris Johansen. So many others just can't think this early in the morning. Have a great weekend!! Oh don't add me in the drawing I've already been blessed with a copy! Thanks Christy :)
(
Crystal Scott 10:18am September 3, 2011)

Hi Marjorie! Oh yes, Romantic Suspense is my favorite too!
(
Christy Reece 10:27am September 3, 2011)

There are really too many villains to chose from but I guess I would have to say from recent fiction I've been reading that Anton Chigur from No Country For Old Men is by far one of the more compelling and interesting antagonists. He is by far the most confusing, yet profound and interesting villain I've read about.
(
Diane Brixius 10:29am September 3, 2011)

Hi Barbara! Yes! Those Carpathian vamps are truly hideous and Christine
Feehan does such an awesome job describing them. Love her Dark
books!
(
Christy Reece 10:30am September 3, 2011)

I haven't ever read anything so scary. Thanks for sharing. Your book sounds very intriguing!
(
Dawn Staniszeski 10:30am September 3, 2011)

Hi Pam! Yes! Though I've never read Thomas Harris's books, Hanibal
Lecter has got to be one of the most creepy villain in books or movies.
(
Christy Reece 10:40am September 3, 2011)

I love romantic suspenses too. But haven't read any really evil character that made me feel creepy. Some of Allison Brennan's characters are evil in the Prey and the Kill, that I wouldn't want to come in contact with.
(
Elisa Varey 10:45am September 3, 2011)

Hi Sheila! The villain in SWEET JUSTICE is very creepy. Also, as mentioned
before, Karen Rose writes some incredibly creepy villains. One of hers
that gave me nightmares was the villain in Count To Ten. Such a very
very bad guy!
(
Christy Reece 11:17am September 3, 2011)

I really enjoy romantic suspense books. The most evil bad guy for me has to be Hannibal Lecter. He was a master at manipulation.
(
MaryEllen Hanneman 11:18am September 3, 2011)

I have to say that one character that oozes evil is Hannibal Lecter. One crazy
and scary thing. *Whole body shivers!*
(
Connie Fischer 11:49am September 3, 2011)

Congrats on the new release! I haven't read anything lately with any rally bad villains. I'm currently reading Two Graves by D. A. Graystone, we'll see how bad the villain turns out to be...
(
Deborah Rudd 12:04pm September 3, 2011)

I don't think I have...at least not so creepy that the villain was beyond redemption. However the last book I read with a scary villain was an unknown from Don't Breathe a Word by Jennifer McMahon. It was an eerie read with so many twisits and turns and in which the villain had no name or face. An unknown is scary to me.
(
Na S 12:24pm September 3, 2011)

I think the scariest villans are the ones who appear to be normal--the guy-next-door who has a well-hidden dark side. As for what they do...any violence against children automatically catapults a villan to the top of my list. Thanks for visiting today.
(
G S Moch 12:31pm September 3, 2011)

Congrat's!!! I do love Sandra Brown's villians!!!
(
Joanne Bozik 12:41pm September 3, 2011)

Oh and forgot to say, your books are now on my menu!!!!
(
Joanne Bozik 12:42pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Renee! I haven't read The Lovely Bones but I did see the movie. So
very sad. And having the creep live right next door--oh, that is scary!
Thanks for the kind words. If you read SWEET JUSTICE, hope you enjoy!
(
Christy Reece 1:05pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Deb! I know I read The Surgeon and remembered really liking it but
can't recall the villain. Need to go back for a reread!
(
Christy Reece 1:07pm September 3, 2011)

Not long ago, I got my hands on my very first Christy Reece book and loved it... looking forward to reading more of your books! I enjoy romantic suspense and mysteries, but not a fan of thrillers...
(
Colleen Conklin 1:27pm September 3, 2011)

Haven't read about any good villians lately. Looking forward to reading Sweet Justice- love all the Last Chance Rescue books!
(
Mary C 1:46pm September 3, 2011)

Hey Natalie! Oh, I'm going to have to look that book up! Thanks for the
recommend!
(
Christy Reece 1:55pm September 3, 2011)

Hey Christy! I'd have to agree with Karen Rose's villains being way up
there are the creep-o-meter. However, just seeing Aldin Pike's name in
print again gave me chills. SCARY! He's so much creepier because there
are really people like that!
To anyone trying to decide whether or not to buy SWEET JUSTICE
Tuesday, I say go for it! Whether you're a tried and true Reece fan, or just
starting your LCR journey, the book is amazing!
(
Kara Conrad 3:00pm September 3, 2011)

Ooooh, this one looks awesome! I would love to read it! Thank you for the chance :)
(
Kathyrn Little 3:16pm September 3, 2011)

I read so much, it's really hard to remember plot lines of specific books.
I had read one book where a serial killer set up several people to take the fall for his actions. What's creepy is wondering - what would one do if one were set up by a stranger and how in the world could you prove your innocence.

Thanks for the giveaway!
(
Joanne Schultz 3:27pm September 3, 2011)

Oh Karen, you're so right. I read Grisham's A Time to Kill and had to
skim those chapters. Grisham is an amazing storyteller but there are
some places I can't go to, even in fiction.
(
Christy Reece 3:29pm September 3, 2011)

I know you are thinking about a villain in a book but whenever I think about being frightened, I remember seeing the movie The Picture of Dorian Gray. I guess I was too young and it horrified me.
(
Anna Speed 3:42pm September 3, 2011)

I really enjoy romantic suspense too! But, I do not like all the gruesome details. It's enough for me to know that someone died.
(
Molly Wilsbacher 3:53pm September 3, 2011)

The thriller stories written by Joseph Finder sure have enough scary villains. I just saw The Debt starring Helen Mirren and it was plenty scary, too. I jumped just hearing a door closing.
(
Alyson Widen 3:58pm September 3, 2011)

I enjoy romantic suspense too!! This book sounds intriguing!!! I added it to
my TBR list!!! :-)
(
Tonya Fortier 4:06pm September 3, 2011)

I have never read any of the Last Chance Rescue books. I love Karen Rose so I think I will love these too! The most creepy fictional villian ever has to be Rutger Hauer in The Hitcher movie. Holy Cow! That movie still givew me the creeps even after years of not seeing it.
(
Jennifer Beyer 4:28pm September 3, 2011)

Scariest was the murderer in Ashes to Ashes by Tami Hoag.
(
Phyllis Lamken 4:31pm September 3, 2011)

Scariest literary villain for me is Pennywise the clown in
Stephen King's IT. More of a monster than a villain but I have
a clown phobia now. EEEkkks
(
Wendy Mitchell 4:37pm September 3, 2011)

Hey Crystal! Glad that Alden Pike gave you chills. (: You know, I don't
think I've read Karin Slaughter yet. Will definitely had to add her to my
list of authors to try. Thanks for the recommend!
(
Christy Reece 4:43pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Diane! Oh, that kind of villain sounds intriguing. Will definitely have
to take a look at No Country for Old Men. I know they made a movie
from it and from what I could tell, it looked pretty creepy.
(
Christy Reece 4:46pm September 3, 2011)

Christy,
If you want a really DARK DARK DARK read, try Sharp Objects by Gilliam or Room by Donaghue. Both absolutely hair-raising!!!!!!!!!
(
Susan Coster 4:57pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Dawn, thanks! If you get a chance to read SWEET JUSTICE, hope you
enjoy!
(
Christy Reece 5:16pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Elisa! Yes, Allison Brennan is awesome. I love her books and she does
have some very evil villains.
(
Christy Reece 5:18pm September 3, 2011)

Hi MaryEllen! Yes, Hannibal Lecter has to be one of the most evil villains
ever created. Would not want to meet him even if he were behind a thick
layer of glass, tied up and his jaws were wired together. Evil personified!
(
Christy Reece 5:22pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Connie! Yes, another vote for Lecter! Uber evil villain!
(
Christy Reece 5:23pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Deborah! Thanks so much! And I hope the villain in Two Graves is as
evil as you want him to be. (:
(
Christy Reece 5:28pm September 3, 2011)

Steven King has had a few that that gave me some sleepless
nights (Cujo being the worst), but Mary Higgins Clark's were
the ones that made me afraid to go to sleep. Some of her villains were so scary because for much of the book I didn't
recognize them as the bad guy and once I did, well lets just
say, they scared the crap out of me.
(
Lisa Richards 5:53pm September 3, 2011)

Don't read alot of books that would have really scary villains. But I know I've been creeped out by a few in the JD Robb books! Love your work Christy. Keep 'em coming.
(
Sue Peterson 7:38pm September 3, 2011)

sounds great can't wait to read it!!!
(
Jennifer Beck 8:02pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Na S! Wow, Don't Breathe a Word sounds like a great read. I love
twists and turns in a romantic suspense. Thanks for the recommend.
Will definitely have to look that one up!
(
Christy Reece 8:09pm September 3, 2011)

Hi G S! I totally agree. The ones that seem so normal and could live right
next door to you are the scariest. And yes, hurting a child goes to the
top of my list as the most heinous.
(
Christy Reece 8:12pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Joanne! Thanks so much. And yes, love Sandra Brown!
(
Christy Reece 8:14pm September 3, 2011)

Joanne, thanks for putting my books on your menu! (:
(
Christy Reece 8:15pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Colleen! Thank you so much. So thrilled you've enjoyed my books and
that you're looking forward to SWEET JUSTICE!
(
Christy Reece 8:16pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Mary! Thank you so much. I'm so happy you've enjoyed the Last
Chance Rescue books. Hope you enjoy SWEET JUSTICE, too!
(
Christy Reece 8:18pm September 3, 2011)

Hey Kara! Yes, Karen Rose's villains are so incredibly evil. And I know
there are people as evil as Alden Pike out in the real world but I sure
hope I never meet them. (:

Thank you so much for that endorsement of SWEET JUSTICE and the
LCR books You are such a SWEETheart!
(
Christy Reece 8:27pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Krystal! Thanks so much. If you get the chance to read SWEET
JUSTICE, hope you enjoy!
(
Christy Reece 8:57pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Joanne! Wow, being framed like that would be horrifying. And not
having anyone believe you. Yikes, now that's a scary thought.
(
Christy Reece 9:13pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Anna! I remember that movie. It was very good. I think they did a
remake of that not too long ago but I didn't see it. Wonder if it was as
good as the original.
(
Christy Reece 9:15pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Molly! I'm not big on gruesome details either. When I'm reading, I
have a tendency to skim over those kinds of things. In writing, I try not
to go too far. In SWEET JUSTICE, though the villain is evil, I don't
graphically detail his acts--well, except for once, but he was almost as
evil as the villain so I didn't feel too badly about it. (:
(
Christy Reece 9:19pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Alyson! Oh, I've never read a Finder book. Must find one. And I saw
the previews for The Debt. It looked really good!
(
Christy Reece 9:20pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Tonya! Thanks so much. Hope you enjoy SWEET JUSTICE!
(
Christy Reece 9:21pm September 3, 2011)

hmmm... Most evil villain... protagonist from Kaylea Cross military suspense books. I cannot remember his name, but he was in several books, kinda like a cockroach, he wouldn't die!
(
Heather Keith 9:23pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Jennifer! Oh, wasn't Rutger Hauer incredibly evil in The Hitcher! That
was one very scary movie. Even the remake, which wasn't as good,
imho, was still scary.

And if you read SWEET JUSTICE, hope you enjoy!
(
Christy Reece 9:24pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Phyllis! I love Tammy Hoag but I've not read Ashes to Ashes. Thanks
for the recommend. Will have to look that one up!
(
Christy Reece 9:26pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Wendy! Stephen King is the master of creating evil--villains,
creatures or monsters--they're all incredibly vivid and much too life-
like. And I never feared clowns until IT either. (:
(
Christy Reece 9:30pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Susan! Thanks for the recommends! Will definitely look these two
books up!
(
Christy Reece 9:31pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Lisa! Yes, Stephen King has given me several sleepless nights. I'm
sure you and I aren't the only ones either. Oh, I've never read Higgins
Clark. I love being surprised about the villains. Will have to add her to
my authors to try list.
(
Christy Reece 9:34pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Sue! Yes, J.D. Robb is so very awesome! And thanks so much for
loving my books! Hope you enjoy SWEET JUSTICE too!
(
Christy Reece 9:36pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Jennifer! Thanks so much. Hope you enjoy SWEET JUSTICE!
(
Christy Reece 9:37pm September 3, 2011)

Hi Heather! Oh, I read Kaylea Cross's Out of Her League and remember
the villain being really really evil. LOL I like your analogy of the
cockroach that wouldn't die.
(
Christy Reece 9:39pm September 3, 2011)

I can't say that I've read any books of that particular genre, so I suppose I'm going to have to wait to read your book and find out what it's like to be scared by a character. The books I lean to seem to be more upbeat, I'm afraid, but I'm willing to try anything, and your book has my interest peaked.
(
Peggy Roberson 9:40pm September 3, 2011)

This is a great giveaway.
(
George Ferris 9:51pm September 3, 2011)

I haven't read any really evil heros lately but I love a good romantic suspense. I have only read one of your books but I really enjoyed it.
(
Gail Hurt 10:00pm September 3, 2011)

Some of the bad guys in Iris Johansen books are scary otherwise no other bad guys are jumping out at me. Your book sounds great and I can not wait to read it Christy.
(
Christine Arcidiacono 10:22pm September 3, 2011)

I can't think of a villian that scared me in a book. In movies we don't watch horror, and the scarest things would be movies about serial killers. Because they are always described as seeming so normal
(
Lisa Kendall 10:50pm September 3, 2011)

One that comes to my mind right now is the villain that appears in Linda Howard's DREAM MAN. I don't know if it was because I was reading it late at night or if it was the fact I was home alone, but there is one scene that scared the daylights out of me. J.D. Robb also writes some pretty creepy villains. Can't wait to read SWEET JUSTICE!
(
Amber Eversmeyer 11:10pm September 3, 2011)

I'm glad you're not too keen on all the gory stuff. My favorite type of book has always been historical novels--the ones which feature either real historical characters--or if necessary, someone that fits into the era and is based on a real character. Romantic suspense is a close second. Unfortunately, I've read so many books over the years that I can't remember any particular vile characters. However, I know that Lisa Gardner, Iris Johansen, Suzanne Brockmann, and Tess Gerritsen are some who have written absolutely chilling books with very evil characters. I've meant to stop reading some of them because of my...hmm..."delicate psyche" but I just can't pass them up when a new one comes out; I usually pass on the guys because they can be even more graphic and...scary. And I read a few whose books are scary but still leave me with a feel-good aftertaste. Other than gory ones I find the psychological thrillers the hardest to read. I'd love to read some of yours. I'll check if the library has some of your older ones. I wish you continued good ideas, writing and success.
(
Sigrun Schulz 2:43am September 4, 2011)

Hi Peggy! Though the characters in SWEET JUSTICE do go through a lot,
there is an extremely upbeat happy ever after (something I insist on for
my endings). If you read SWEET JUSTICE, or any of my other books, hope
you enjoy them!
(
Christy Reece 3:05pm September 4, 2011)

Thanks, George! Hope you get the chance to read SWEET JUSTICE and
enjoy it.
(
Christy Reece 3:06pm September 4, 2011)

Hi Gail. My heroes are good guys (thought they're not perfect by any
means) but my villains have a tendency to be very very bad. The villain
in SWEET JUSTICE might be the most evil yet. Thanks for reading one of
my books. So glad you enjoyed it. If you read any of the SWEET books,
hope you enjoy them, too!
(
Christy Reece 3:09pm September 4, 2011)

Hi Christine! I agree. Johansen can write some very 'good' villains. And
hope you enjoy SWEET JUSTICE!
(
Christy Reece 3:11pm September 4, 2011)

Hi Lisa! Isn't it amazing how those serial killers in fiction do seem
normal. Of course, in real life, when they're interviewing the killer's
neighbors on television, they always seem surprised and say he was so
nice and mild mannered.
(
Christy Reece 3:16pm September 4, 2011)

Hi Amber! Oh yes, Dream Man is one of my very favorite Linda Howard
books. I reread it often. Carrol Janes was a creepy, nasty villain and
there were a couple of scenes that scared me too. Definitely not a
good home alone late at night kind of read--but an absolutely
fabulous read all the same. (:

Hope you enjoy SWEET JUSTICE!
(
Christy Reece 3:19pm September 4, 2011)

Hi Sigrun! You named some excellent authors who have created some
very evil villains. Gore is just not my thing, in books or movies. I don't
mind knowing that stuff happens but I don't have to know the
gruesome details. I enjoy the ones that leave some stuff up to your
imagination.

Thanks for looking out for my books. If you read any of them, hope
you enjoy!
(
Christy Reece 3:25pm September 4, 2011)

Your welcome Christy.......
(
Joanne Bozik 5:29pm September 4, 2011)

Sounds like a good rom suspense.
(
Pat Lieberman 10:58pm September 4, 2011)

Hi Pat! Thanks so much. If you read SWEET JUSTICE, hope you enjoy!
(
Christy Reece 12:36pm September 5, 2011)

Hmm... I don't actually read anything THAT scary. But there are some creepy villains on movies though....
(
May Pau 8:44am September 5, 2011)

I don't remember all of the details it was years ago but the nasty character who tortures Jamie in Outlander had me really upset. I and the lessers in JR Wards BDB can be cruel. Any one who can torture another living being human or not and enjoy it so much is terrifying.
(
Patti Paonessa 9:20am September 6, 2011)

Its hard to pick worthy villain as all creep me out, I
remember reading The Morning after by Lisa Jackson, the
villain buried his victims alive. Of course I have come
across many books since with the same theme. Then their is
the one where the villain uses their greatest fear against
them like heights, water, snakes etc... were their begging
to die to escape nightmare. Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden
(
Margaret Kennedy 11:13am September 9, 2011)

This read sounds great!!!!!!!!!!!
(
Joanne Bozik 6:44pm November 20, 2011)

I am exploring this topic for a report I have to write. You have good content and I would like to know if you have any other posts about this?
