I enjoy when a secondary character gets their own book because I am already interested in them and now I get to see things from their perspective and find out where life is taking them.

I also like when the main characters from the first book are included and I can see where life has taken them since I last read about them,

When I read a book written by a good author, I become invested in the characters and they are "real" people to me.
