Romance

HOME IS WHERE YOUR BARK IS by Debbie Burns is about a high-energy Border Collie who keeps getting returned to the animal shelter.   It is filled with relatable and very likable people. Jenna is on her way to take the dog back to the shelter when she is involved in an accident. Jake is in the car next to her and sees the accident happen.  Jenna is going to the hospital and while waiting for the ambulance, Jake holds Jenna's hand to comfort her.  Jake tells her he will take the dog to the shelter, but when he gets there, he finds the shelter closed.  He decides to take the dog home and quickly becomes attached.  After calling the shelter the next day and learning some of the dog's history he wants to foster the dog. He calls the dog Seven, for the seven times he has tried to find his forever home.

HOME IS WHERE YOUR BARK IS will have you holding back tears at the emotional roller coaster Debbie Burns puts her readers on.  The characters have all been through so much and before long, you will find yourself cheering them on and hoping they find their happily ever after. Jenna lost her mom a few years ago to breast cancer and now she is worried for her sister.  HOME IS WHERE YOUR BARK IS is a love story.  Actually, it is two love stories. Besides, Jake and Jenna having feelings for each other that are spinning around in their hearts,  it also shows the bond that a man can have with a dog. Be prepared for Seven to steal your heart.  He was abused in the past and is trying so hard to trust humans once again.

Jenna has had her share of heartache.  Jenna’s younger sister, Monica, who is married, with two kids and one on the way, is in the throws of a medical scare.  She is the one who is trying to bond with Seven.  The dog just becomes too much for her and she decides to surrender the dog.   Neither Jake nor Jenna is looking for any kind of relationship, but it seems that's all they can think about.  HOME IS WHERE YOUR BARK IS is the perfect way to spend the afternoon, on your couch with your favorite beverage.  Soon, you will be falling in love with Seven and the people in this heartwarming and sweet story.  Will Jenna and Jake ever be able to heal their broken hearts and move on from their painful pasts?  Read this wonderful contemporary to find out!  I can't wait to read more from Debbie Burns.  She really tugged on my heartstrings!

SUMMARY

Love means learning to trust again.

Jake Stiles has no idea what he's signing up for when he dashes into the rain to help a stranger and her dog who have been in a car accident, but fate has stepped in. Jenna Dunning was on her way to return her sister's high-energy border collie to a shelter after another failed attempt at a forever home for him when a distracted driver ran into them. Jenna is being taken to the hospital and must rely on a caring stranger to take charge of the terrified canine.

When Jake and Jenna reconnect, Jenna's delighted to learn Jake has taken on fostering the poorly trained border collie, who they name Seven because this will be his seventh chance at being adopted. Jake's not looking for a relationship—he just ended a disastrous one—but he realizes Jenna may be the key to making Seven's fostering successful. The timing might be all wrong, but as they grow close, he has to admit that he's falling in love.
