If you are looking for a book that is light on the romance but filled with unusual characters, snappy dialog, and a sentient house then LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE HAUNTED PLACES  by Claire Kann would be a fun read.  Rejected from her graduate schools of choice and with nowhere to live, Lucky Hart interviews for a reality show as the caretaker of a haunted house where former caretakers haven't lasted more than three nights.  But she's keeping secrets including an ulterior motive, Lucky spent the past few years using her abilities and chasing ghostly experiences to build a profession as a paranormal expert. Since you need an established reputation to attract well-paying jobs, she is hoping the job will launch her career like another host of supernatural shows Maverick Phillips.  Upon arriving, she meets her on-site team which includes non-other than Maverick Phillips and his precocious daughter, Rebel.  Even Asexual (ACE) Lucky finds Maverick sexy and hard to resist which distracts her from solving the house's secrets and her ultimate goal.  Lucky has to decide what is most important to her or figure out how to balance it all.
