Romance Paranormal | Fantasy Anthology

WARLORDS, WITCHES & WOLVES is a hefty anthology from eleven Australian paranormal and fantasy authors. There are no short stories here; all the offerings are novella-length submissions.  One of the authors, Michelle Diener, is an auto-buy for me. I had heard of only one other author in the anthology (Shona Husk), so there are a lot of new-to-me authors to try out here.

Virtually every story features shifters, witches, or both. Some stories are less polished or less carefully edited, but I think everyone can find something to like in this generous collection. There are two Male/male romances, and nine Male/female romances on offer.

M.J. Scott’s writing in "Courting the Witch" is a particular highlight in the book for me. This story features an intrepid Imperial Mage who is a diplomat. She meets her match in the son of a duq who convinces her to look beyond his aristocratic position to appreciate the man beneath the title. Each of the characters is honest, competent, and engaging. The writing style reminds me of some of my other favorite authors such as Bec McMaster or Meljean Brooks.

The other highlight for me is, of course, "The Rising Wave" by Michelle Diener. Ava is a captured princess who not only saves herself but manages to save an injured rebel warlord who is tossed into her dungeon cell with her. Here’s another competent and compassionate female, my particular catnip! I adore Diener’s worldbuilding.

Looking for an escape? Look no further than this collection of stories that will carry you to far-off lands or paranormal worlds. Eleven authors bring us rousing tales of romance, action, and intrigue in WARLORDS, WITCHES & WOLVES.
