One of the issues with new adult romance is that it tends towards treacle just a little too often. The author builds complex stories and you think are heading somewhere deep and then it veers into... not. CONFESSIONS OF A FORMER PUCK BUNNY by Cindi Madsen suffers from that syndrome, but is much more enjoyable than most.
Hockey is - for some reason - one of the most frequently written about in Romancelandia and is one of my favorites to read about. I enjoyed this story immensely -until the end, when the angst was just a little too much.
However, if you're looking for a fun read to while away these dog days of summer, and you're into new adult romance and hockey, and like your heroes just a little nerdy (this one plays hockey and likes math!) then go for it! You won't regret your time with these folks.
Confession #1: I used to be a puck bunny, but after a
hockey player broke my heart, I gave up all things
hockey. Now Iβm just focused on finding a way to pass my
math class so I can graduate college.
Confession #2: Ryder βOxβ Maddoxβs deep, sexy voice sends
fuzzy tingles through my entire body, and Iβm powerless
to stop it. Which is a big problem since the hot,
surprisingly funny hockey player is my new math tutor.
Confession #3: I canβt stop thinking about how ripped
Ryder is from all his hockey training, and how fun itβd
be to cross lines with him.
Confession #4: I kissed a hockey player and I liked it.
Confession #5: If Iβm not careful, I might relapse and
fall for Ryder, and then Iβll be totally pucked.
