Joey Silvia just learned in a most dramatic manner that
her boyfriend of two years had been married all that time.
As she was already going home to Oregon for her brother
Dillon's wedding to Oscar, Joey would try to lick her
wounds at the same time. Her best friend Kira suggests
that the best way to get the cheating weasel out of her
system is to have sex, lots of sex, but only sex, with the
first suitable guy Joey meets. Joey is going to her
parents' old cabin in Lost Lake, expecting to see
something out of The Green Acres, but it looks terrific!
It seems Chris Steffensen did all that, and oh yes, he was
the first good-looking guy she met. Her older brother's
friend and protector certainly does not look like the
slacker he once was. Chris was also Joey's very platonic
friend, while she definitely liked him, she would never
have entertained any romantic notions about Chris then,
but now...
What fabulous fun! HER HALLOWEEN TREAT is light and airy
as the enticing Oregon scenery that Ms. Reisz describes so
well. It's lively, pleasant, and it all felt real, down to
the lightning-quick trip down the 1980s memory lane and
the Halloween them, which is rather incidental to the
story, but gives the author several opportunities to
induce the reader into uncontrollable giggle fits. HER
HALLOWEEN TREAT is a very quick read, character-oriented,
which are so well fleshed out, I felt they were my friends
as well, and I loved the backstories which get us
acquainted with the teenage Joey, Chris and Dillon. It was
easy to identify with Joey, Chris is a real sweetheart,
and I believed in the romance all the way. What woman in
her right mind could resist Chris! The writing is
unpretentious, crisp as fresh-fallen snow, and the
dialogues simply blew me away: the banter is hilarious,
down to earth, witty, and so authentic. Ms. Reisz could
have written HIS GIRL FRIDAY!
I must say that HER HALLOWEEN TREAT is my favourite "best
friend's little sister" ever. The author really knows how
to utilize the so-called "romance tropes;" she uses them
as suggestions, and the brilliant Tiffany Reisz runs away
with it, like it happens in real life; nothing ever feels
fabricated or formulaic; that's the way to do it!. And the
sex scenes? Oh my! Hot, hot, hot, sweet, funny, and
playful. And amidst all that fun, sexiness, and hair-
tearing (because, on the rebound), who would have thought
I would tear up! If you need a book to forget everything
that's wrong with the world, HER HALLOWEEN TREAT is it!
It was a devastating dirty trick—Joey Silvia just found out
her boyfriend of two years is married. What. A. Dick. Joey
knows her best chance to get over one guy is to get under
another. Of course, heading home to her family's remote
cabin in Oregon poses some challenges in the "available men"
department…until she discovers this cabin comes with its own
hot handyman!
Holy crap, Chris Steffensen. When did her brother's best
friend turn into a hard-bodied pile of blond-bearded
hotness? He's the perfect Halloween treat—and a surprisingly
dirty rebound guy. For a couple of weeks, anyway. Except
that Chris has other ideas…like proving to Joey that this
blast from the past is a whole lot more than a naughty
Halloween hookup.
