The apprentice and the mentor selected the targets. Shots
were fired and now Lieutenant Eve Dallas is investigating
a multiple murder at the ice skating rink in Central
Park. Eve soon realizes she is dealing with a deadly but
talented sniper. Unfortunately, Eve doesn't believe the
sniper is done yet, especially not when she realizes
she's dealing with two individuals, one much younger than
the other. Eve, Roarke, and her team will have to utilize
every resource available to them if they are to stop the
snipers from continuing their deadly plan.
APPRENTICE IN DEATH is J.D. Robb's forty-third book in
the In Death series but don't let the number of
books in the series intimidate you. Feel free to jump in
at any point as each mystery stands on its own. However,
I suspect you'll fall in love with the characters and
want to devour the entire series, just as I have.
APPRENTICE IN DEATH is a hard-hitting mystery but at its
core is a set of characters we've come to know and love.
I love how each new In Death book only deepens the
relationship between Eve and Roarke as theirs is a
romance that never grows stale. We continue to see Eve's
character evolve as she is learning how to appreciate the
love around her. There is one scene, and I won't reveal
spoilers but you'll know it when you read it, that left
me in tears as Eve's world is directly impacted by her
current investigation. The tender moments in between the
harsh realities are all the more beautiful because they
show the light in the darkness.
Each and every J.D. Robb book is a true treasure, like
visiting with old friends as you'll want to hear their
stories unfold. Every time I think J.D. Robb has outdone
herself with a book, the next book in the In Death
series proves me wrong. APPRENTICE IS DEATH is yet
another gem in the series, one I couldn't turn the pages
fast enough to see what would happen next. Thank you,
J.D. Robb, for another phenomenal In Death book!
Lieutenant Eve Dallas returns in a fast-paced new novel
from #1 New York Times bestselling author J. D. Robb.
Nature versus nurture...
The shots came quickly, silently, and with deadly accuracy.
Within seconds, three people were dead at Central Park's ice
skating rink. The victims: a talented young skater, a
doctor, and a teacher. As random as random can be.
Eve Dallas has seen a lot of killers during her time with
the NYPSD, but never one like this. After reviewing security
videos, it becomes clear that the victims were killed by a
sniper firing a tactical laser rifle, who could have been
miles away when the trigger was pulled. And though the
locations where the shooter could have set up seem endless,
the list of people with that particular skill set is finite:
police, military, professional killer.
Eve's husband, Roarke, has unlimited resources—and genius—at
his disposal. And when his computer program leads Eve to the
location of the sniper, she learns a shocking fact: There
were two—one older, one younger. Someone is being trained by
an expert in the science of killing, and they have an
agenda. Central Park was just a warm-up. And as another
sniper attack shakes the city to its core, Eve realizes that
though we're all shaped by the people around us, there are
those who are just born evil...
