LOVE IN THE LIGHT is Book 2 in the Hearts of
Darkness Duet by Laura Kaye. Getting to read both
the books in this Duet series together has been as
satisfying as eating a good dark chocolate.
The covers of both books have man, muscle and ink; ticking
all the right boxes in my book. LOVE IN THE LIGHT
continues the story of Makenna and Caden from HEARTS IN
DARKNESS. After
getting rescued from the "darkness" of being stuck in the
life together,
which
brought them closer, they see each other for the
first time in full light. That should be a happy moment
right, but there is more of awkwardness
in the air. But sweet Caden again breaks the awkward
ice and gives us a swooning, knee-weakening kiss.
Falling for and getting to know each other mixed with
sweet,
sweet desire and love is a winning
combination here. Their exploring each other's sweet spots,
Caden's tattoos and scars is sensual. The conversations
between the couple give me the warm fuzzies. The parts
where Makenna does
things she wouldn't normally do
just for Caden's happiness is Ace, exactly how love should
be—wanting to do things for each other not only out
of
love but for the right reasons too. Caden's efforts, even
in
small conversations with Makenna, to ensure he treats
Makenna right and not end up throwing his frustrations at
her
is brilliant. LOVE IN THE LIGHT is one of the most
beautiful and wholesome
love stories I have read in a long time. There is no
conflict in my mind to call it anything but a Love
story(with a capital L).
LOVE IN THE LIGHT is a freaking gorgeous Love story.
Two hearts in the darkness
Makenna James and Caden Grayson have been inseparable since
the day they were trapped in a pitch-black elevator and
found acceptance and love in the arms of a stranger. Makenna
hopes that night put them on the path to forever—which can’t
happen until she introduces her tattooed, pierced, and
scarred boyfriend to her father and three over-protective
brothers.
Must fight for love in the light
Haunted by a childhood tragedy and the loss of his family,
Caden never thought he’d find the love he shares with
Makenna. But the deeper he falls, the more he fears the
devastation sure to come if he ever lost her, too. When
meeting her family doesn’t go smoothly, Caden questions
whether Makenna deserves someone better, stronger, and just
more…normal. Maybe they’re just too different—and he’s far
too damaged—after all…
