In the first of the In the Line of Duty series by
Cathryn
Fox, there is an emphasis on the best friend's little sister
trope. Cole Sullivan made a promise to a dying man to
protect his younger sister from harm. When he finally
returns home after a long absence, he goes to see Gemma
Matthews, effectively putting himself back into her life
with little choice.
Though Gemma has harboured feelings for Cole for all her
life, her efforts to seduce him have gone unnoticed to her
knowledge because of the fact that they are life-long
friends. However, it is clear that as Gemma becomes more
comfortable in her own skin that Cole is having a harder
time keeping his hands to himself. In this charming and sexy
story of seduction, Fox infuses the book with a little
teasing, a lot of sexiness and passion.
I find that Fox's writing is easy to read. It flows so
eloquently with little effort on the part of the reader,
making for a very pleasant experience. HIS OBSESSION NEXT
DOOR is a sexy, satisfying story of newfound love.
Once the fuse is lit, there’s only one way to extinguish the
flames.
In the Line of Duty, Book 1
Years ago, Cole Sullivan made a battlefield promise sealed
in a dying man’s blood—to take care of his best friend’s
little sister. Now he’s forced to live with the fact that
Gemma Matthews is completely off limits.
Though Gemma’s always had a crush on the darkly handsome,
far-too-serious explosives expert, she can’t forget the
sting of his rejection. Now here they are, ten years later,
with Cole still stubbornly in the role of protector. But
when she catches him watching her from his house next door,
she jumps at the opportunity to show him everything he’s
been missing.
Cole can barely keep his cool at Gemma’s bedroom window
performance. He’s never been a risk taker, but her all-out
campaign of seduction ignites a fuse that can only blow up
in his face.
All thoughts of backing off are swept away in the heat of
reckless passion. Leaving him wondering how he will live
with himself amid the razor-sharp shards of his broken
promise.
Warning: Contains a smoking-hot explosives expert and enough
heat to set an ammunition depot ablaze.
